Compact Drolet Stoves — Up to 1,200 sq ft

The Fox is the last of the compacts on the original firebox platform: 45,000 BTU/h maximum output, 5-hour burns, 17" logs, and EPA 2020 certification at 1.8 g/h. The Spark II N, Deco Nano N and Escape 1200 N are built on Drolet's newer N platform: the same 17" logs and 5-hour burns, but 75,000 BTU/h, 1.7 g/h and wider wall clearances. 1. Drolet Spark II N — Best Compact

The Spark II N pairs a cast iron door and ceramic glass airwash with a deep combustion chamber that holds more ash than comparable models, so you empty it less often. It ships in a rigid cardboard box with simple assembly. For a small home, cabin or workshop where you want real output from a compact stove, this is the pick.

At $1,049 (Ships Nov 16): 75,000 BTU/h maximum output, a 1.85 ft³ firebox and 1.7 g/h emissions. The trade-off is wall room. With single-wall pipe it needs 14" rear, 24" side and 16" corner clearance, against 12", 18" and 11" for the Fox; double-wall pipe cuts the rear clearance to 8". 2. Drolet Escape 1200 N — Best Classic Look

The traditional pedestal take on the compact class, with a glass airwash system for a clear flame view. Like the Spark II N, it's built on Drolet's newer N platform — 75,000 BTU/h peak, 1.7 g/h, and the same wider clearances (14" rear, 24" side with single-wall pipe) — so measure before you commit in a tight room. The 1,800 sq ft class steps up to 65,000 BTU/h, 7-hour burns and 18" logs, EPA 2020 certified at 2.4 g/h — each shows its live status below. Drolet's two biggest stoves share a 110,000 BTU/h ceiling, 10-hour burns and 22" logs, and both clear a corner at 7¼", the tightest in the range (see corner-mounted wood stoves). 1. Drolet HT-3000

Drolet's flagship heater: 2,700 sq ft coverage, 77% optimum efficiency, and EPA 2020 certification at 1.6 g/h — comfortably under the federal limit, at a fraction of a cast-iron flagship's price. HT-3000 vs Escape 2100: Which Big Drolet?

This is the question we get most from buyers heating 2,000 sq ft and up, and the honest answer is that they are the same heater in different clothes. Same 3.5 ft³ firebox, same 110,000 BTU/h ceiling, same 22" logs and 10-hour burns, same 5/16" steel top with a C-Cast heat shield, and they take the same optional blower and firescreen.

Choose on looks and on whichever ships first. The HT-3000 is $30 less and has by far the longer owner track record. The Escape 2100 gets the bigger viewing glass and the Escape family styling. One honest note: the most common complaint in the HT-3000's reviews is door sealing and latch adjustment. It is usually solved with the door adjustment covered in the manual, but it is the thing to check on day one.

Budget the right pad. Both stoves need more than 41¼" of width in front, so our $189 pad is too small. Drolet's Camp Stove: the Hunter

Not in the thirteen above because it isn't a home heater: the Drolet Hunter ($299, Ships in 1–3 days) is a portable 14-gauge steel camp stove for hunting tents and ice fishing huts, taking 20" logs in a 2 ft³ firebox with a flat top you can cook on and a standard 6" flue. Which Drolet stoves are the newest? The N-series compacts: Spark II N, Deco Nano N and Escape 1200 N. They replaced the earlier 1.4-series models on September 21, 2026, raising maximum output from 45,000 to 75,000 BTU/h on the same 17" logs.

What size Drolet do I need for 2,000 sq ft? The Escape 1800 or Heritage, both rated up to 2,100 sq ft. If the house is drafty, in a cold climate, or open to a second floor, step up to the HT-3000 or Escape 2100. Heating-area ratings are manufacturer figures, so size up rather than down if you are between classes.

What about 500–900 sq ft, a cabin or a shed? Any of the four compacts. The Spark II N and Escape 1200 N give the most heat for the size; the Fox fits the tightest room.

Which Drolet is the safest? None is safer than another on paper — all thirteen are EPA 2020 certified and safety tested to UL 1482 and ULC S627. Do Drolet stoves come with a blower? Only the Heritage, which includes a 100 CFM blower. Most other models take the optional 100 CFM blower ($175); the Escape 1800 uses the 130 CFM blower ($229). Add the thermodisc so it switches on and off by itself.

Where are Drolet stoves made, and is Drolet the same as Englander? Drolet stoves are built in Quebec, Canada, by SBI. SBI also builds Englander, which is why many models share platforms, parts and manual formats.
