Englander Wood Stove Models: The Blue Ridge Line Compared (2026)

England's Stove Works has been building stoves since 1975, and the Blue Ridge line is their current EPA 2020 range: four freestanding stoves and three inserts, covering small rooms up to whole houses, made in the USA. Prices run $1,049 to $2,219.

Availability note for the 2026 season: six of the seven Blue Ridge models are in stock and ship in one to three business days, which is unusual right now — much of the competing Drolet range is on backorder into October and November. Every table below carries a shipping column so you can see it at a glance. Curbside freight adds roughly one to two weeks on top of any ship date.

One note before the numbers. Englander publishes efficiency three ways — HHV, LHV, and "optimum" — and they aren't interchangeable. Where a stove's manual gives all three, the figures below use HHV, which is the conservative, comparable one. The freestanding stoves

Blue Ridge 100 — the compact one

The Blue Ridge 100 ($1,049) is the small-space option: a 1.8 cu ft firebox heating up to 1,200 sq ft, 74% HHV average efficiency, pedestal base, mountain glass overlay on the door, and mobile home certification. It's a genuine alternative to the Drolet compacts — we compare them side by side in the small wood stove guide.

Blue Ridge 300L and 300P — the mid-size pair

These two are the same stove on different bases: L is legs, P is pedestal. Identical performance — 2.4 cu ft firebox, 500 to 2,100 sq ft, 75,000 BTU/h peak, 8-hour burns, 2.3 g/h emissions, 72% HHV efficiency (79% optimum). Both take 16" logs east-west, up to 20" maximum, and vent through a 6" flue.

Pick the 300L ($1,419) for the traditional look and easier floor cleaning underneath; pick the 300P ($1,449) for the pedestal's ash pan and a more contemporary line. That's the whole decision.

This pair matters more than usual this season. The mid-size Drolet stoves that normally compete with them — the Columbia II and Escape 1500 — are on backorder into mid-November, so the 300L and 300P are effectively the mid-size bracket right now.

Both are approved for alcove and mobile home installation, which is worth knowing if your space is tight — not every stove in this class is. Each takes a matching fresh air intake kit: the on-legs kit for the 300L, the pedestal kit for the 300P (required for mobile home installs).

One thing the spec sheet won't tell you: the blower is optional on these two, not included. If you want forced-air circulation, budget for the blower and thermodisc separately — unlike the Blue Ridge inserts, which include theirs.

Blue Ridge 500 — the whole-house heater

The Blue Ridge 500 ($1,749) is the headline model: 3.5 cu ft firebox, 110,000 BTU/h, 1,000 to 2,700 sq ft, 22" logs, 10-hour burns, and 1.6 g/h emissions — the cleanest number in the freestanding line. The inserts

Englander's inserts are the deepest part of the line and routinely overlooked:

All three ship with the faceplate and blower in the box, which is unusual — most brands sell both separately. Englander vs Drolet

The deciding factors are usually where it's made, styling, and which specific size fits your room. Older Englander models

A lot of people searching for Englander stoves are looking for a model that is no longer made — the 30-NC, the 32-NC, the Survivor series, or one of the England's Stove Works pellet units. Blue Ridge 100 for small spaces, 300L or 300P for average homes (legs or pedestal, your call), 500 for whole-house heat, and the inserts if you already have a fireplace.
