The Drolet HT-3000 wood stove (model DB07300) is the big heater in Drolet's lineup and the successor to the HT-2000. It heats 1,000 to 2,700 sq ft with a maximum heat output of 110,000 BTU/h, takes logs up to 22" and is rated for burn times up to 10 hours. It is EPA 2020 certified at 1.6 g/h emissions, with an average overall efficiency of 71% (HHV) and an optimum overall efficiency of 77%. Carbon steel body with a cast iron door frame, refractory brick lining and a vermiculite baffle. 6" flue outlet, optional blower up to 100 CFM. Certified for mobile home and alcove installation.

Who the HT-3000 is for

Choose the HT-3000 when one stove has to carry most of the house. It fits:

Homes of about 1,000 to 2,700 sq ft, especially open floor plans where heat can move freely.
Basements that send heat upstairs through a stairwell or open floor registers.
Northern climates with long heating seasons, where a big firebox means fewer reloads.

Drolet's heating area is the space the stove can keep at a minimum comfortable temperature in a power outage; insulation, layout and climate all move it. If you are heating well under 1,000 sq ft, a smaller model from our wood stove collection will burn cleaner and be easier to live with.

Firebox and loading

The firebox has an overall volume of 3.5 cu ft (2.88 cu ft EPA loading volume) and measures about 22 7/8" wide, 12 7/8" high and 20 1/8" deep. Logs load east-west, side to side across the firebox, up to 22" long. Drolet recommends 16" splits for the easiest loading. The door opening is 19" x 10 5/8", behind a single door with a cast iron frame, 5/32" ceramic glass and an airwash that helps keep the glass clear. The top is heavy 5/16" steel reinforced with a C-Cast heat shield, over a 3/16" steel body, and the stove stands on a pedestal with an ash drawer.

Burn time and heat output

Drolet rates the HT-3000 at up to 110,000 BTU/h with a dense load of dry cordwood, and at 17,200 to 57,800 BTU/h overall heat output from low to high burn under EPA test conditions. That wide range is what makes a big stove livable: run it low on a mild fall evening, then open the air control on the coldest nights.

The maximum burn time is up to 10 hours. Treat that as the best case. Real-world burns depend on wood species, moisture content (Drolet's target is 15% to 20%), how full you load the firebox, chimney draft and how far you turn the air down. Dry hardwood, a full load and a properly sized chimney get you closest to the rating.

HT-3000 vs. HT-2000 vs. Escape 2100

The HT-3000 replaced the HT-2000, keeping the same big-firebox, single-air-control approach with EPA 2020 certification. Our HT-2000 to HT-3000 guide covers what changed.

On paper, the Drolet Escape 2100 is the HT-3000's twin. The two manuals list the same performance figures and the same clearances to combustibles. The differences are styling and the door.

Blower option

A blower isn't required; the HT-3000 heats by radiation and natural convection on its own. To push more warm air into adjoining rooms, add the Drolet 100 CFM variable-speed blower (AC02050), the blower listed in the HT-3000 parts list. Pair it with the Quick Connect Thermodisc (AC02055) so it switches on when the stove is hot and off when it cools. Drolet notes a blower adds only a small efficiency gain (up to 2%), so it is not a fix for an undersized stove.

Venting and installation

The HT-3000 has a 6" flue outlet and uses 6" connector pipe. It must connect to a UL 103 HT (2,100°F) factory-built chimney or a code-approved masonry chimney with a flue liner, at least 12 ft tall. In the USA, double-wall connector pipe lets the stove sit 6" from the rear wall instead of 13" with single-wall pipe; see the clearance table below. For a mobile home, Drolet requires a fresh air kit and forbids single-wall pipe. The 5" fresh air intake kit (AC01336) is the one listed for this stove.

Floor protection

Unless the stove sits on a non-combustible floor such as concrete, it needs a continuous non-combustible ember pad; no R-value is required. How do I figure out what size wood stove I need for my home?

Choosing the right size stove matters for both comfort and efficiency. As a rough guide, small stoves suit spaces up to about 1,500 sq ft, medium up to 2,500 sq ft, and large stoves (like the HT-3000) suit 2,500+ sq ft or open-concept layouts. How close can the HT-3000 sit to a combustible wall?

Required clearances to combustibles depend on your setup — single-wall vs. double-wall connector pipe, and whether a heat shield is used. Double-wall pipe allows the stove to sit noticeably closer to back and corner walls than single-wall. The exact back, side, corner, and ceiling figures are listed in the Specifications section on this page and in the owner's manual. Always confirm the published clearances for your specific configuration and have the installation inspected per local code.

Does the HT-3000 come with a blower, or is one available?

A blower is not included, but the recommended one is available separately: the Drolet Variable-Speed Blower (100 CFM, AC02050) — Drolet blower with variable speed control 100 cfm ac02050. You can also add the Quick Connect Thermodisc (AC02055) so the blower switches on automatically once the stove heats up. Both are shown under "What else you'll need" next to the Add to Cart button. If you prefer a no-electricity option, the Heat-Operated Fan (178 CFM, AC03513) is also compatible.

It is manufactured by Stove Builder International (SBI), a Canadian company based in Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures, Quebec. SBI designs, engineers, and builds all Drolet products in their Canadian facilities using North American steel and components.

Does the door on this model open from right to left?

No. It opens left to right, just as shown in the pictures.

Is this still available with the double stove fan?

Sorry, no. This model is only available with the single blower option, and it is still a good, efficient setup.

This thing is a monster. We're on our third year of using this unit and we completely heat our 2,700 sq ft house with it. House is a comfortable 75 degrees in our basement where it resides and our upstairs is usually around 65 degrees. After 3 years of use, the unit still looks and functions like brand new. The HT-3000 worked perfect for 1 week. Out of nowhere the door would no longer close. I spoke with a Drolet tech who said the door needed to be adjusted and that Drolet does NOT service their new equipment. I had to hire someone to come adjust the door out of my pocket. Bought the HT-3000 for its large heating capacity. The stove does give off a lot of heat. The blower is noisy. I am disappointed in the firebox as the front ledge is too low and the stove doesn't completely burn out the coals so after a day or so the coals are built up to the point that when you add wood they fall out on the front ledge. The most serious issue is the secondary air intake setup — on a very windy day you can close the draft control all the way shut and the stove will still burn as if it was getting full draft.

The door doesn't always seal properly. When closed with a fire in and you reduce the vent it seldom makes a difference due to the lack of a good seal around the door. It appears the door may be twisted and not perfectly flat against the stove structure.

This stove was purchased in Aug 2020 but not installed until Sept 2021. I can't say I am unsatisfied per se, just wondering why the stove seems to use a lot of wood and burns only about 5-6 hours at best on a full load of wood. Asking if there is a Drolet warranty fix for the secondary air tubes or main damper.

We can not get a fire to burn in our new stove! Fire goes out very quickly and smoke comes out from everywhere. There is no intake air. The only way we can get a small fire to burn without smoking up the whole house is to remove the ash cap.
