Englander Pellet Stoves: The 25-CBPAH Reviewed, With Specs and Alternatives (2026)
Share
Englander makes one pellet stove today: the 25-CBPAH ($2,199). England's Stove Works in Virginia also sells it under two store-brand numbers, the 55-SHPCBPAH and 55-TRPCBPAH, and the owner's manual covers all three as the same stove. Its headline is a 120 lb hopper that runs up to 76 hours between fills, at a price well below most stoves with a hopper that size.
Below are the 25-CBPAH's real numbers from its manual, where it's strong, where it's weaker than the listing suggests, and the stoves we'd compare it with. Every stove we sell ships with No Sales Tax in any state and free shipping.
Shipping status: No confirmed date. Englander hasn't confirmed when the next batch ships. The alternatives further down are the closest stoves we can ship now.

Figures from the Englander 25-CBPAH owner's manual. Burn time and output depend on the pellets you burn.
Where the 25-CBPAH is strong
- Hopper size for the money. 120 lb and up to 76 hours on low means filling it twice a week in mild weather. Few stoves near $2,200 hold that much.
- Outside air kit in the box. Englander makes outside combustion air mandatory, and the kit comes with the stove, so it's not an extra part to buy.
- Mobile home approved. With the outside air hookup, lag bolts to the floor and a ground wire to the chassis, as the manual sets out. Our mobile home stove guide covers the rest.
- Simple to run. Automatic ignition, a heat-range setting and a blower setting. Nothing to program.
- A complete package. The 25-CBPAH install package ($2,863) adds the vent kit for a through-wall install, the stove adapter and a free ash vacuum (No confirmed date).
Where it's weaker than the listing suggests
- Output is modest for a 2,200 sq ft rating. 25,122 BTU/h is the top of its range. Other brands rate stoves with similar output for less space: the ComfortBilt Alpine HP40 puts out 26,000 BTU/h and is rated for 1,500 sq ft. If you're heating a whole house in a cold climate, size on output, not the square-footage headline.
- Lower efficiency. 67.6% HHV, against 80–81% on the ComfortBilt stoves we sell. Lower efficiency means more pellets for the same heat.
- No thermostat control in the manual. The controls are a heat-range button and a blower button. If you want the stove to hold a set temperature or follow a schedule, look at the alternatives below.

|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Englander 25-CBPAH | $2,199 | 2,200 sq ft | 25,122 BTU/h | 120 lb, up to 76 hrs | 67.6% HHV | Heat range + blower | No confirmed date |

| ComfortBilt HP22N | $2,599 | 2,800 sq ft | 40,689 BTU/h | 80 lb, up to 32 hrs | 80.5% HHV | Temperature, 7-day, thermostat, remote | Ships in 1–2 days |
| Drolet ECO-65R | $4,129 | 2,600 sq ft | 28,526 BTU/h | 125 lb, up to 105 hrs | 76.7% HHV | Manual or wall thermostat | Ships in 1–3 days |
Specs from each stove's manual or ComfortBilt's published figures. ComfortBilt lists the HP42's efficiency as up to 87.5% HHV on its lowest setting, a best-case figure rather than a weighted average.
- Same hopper, less money: the Alpine HP42 matches the 120 lb hopper, claims a similar burn time on low, puts out about two-thirds more heat at full fire, and costs $700 less. It also holds a set temperature and runs a weekly schedule.
- More heat and full thermostat control: the HP22N gives up hopper size (80 lb, up to 32 hours) for 80.5% EPA-certified efficiency and coverage up to 2,800 sq ft.
- Longest burn and cleanest stove: the Drolet ECO-65R runs up to 105 hours from 125 lb at 0.77 g/h, the cleanest stove we carry. It costs nearly twice as much. Our Drolet pellet stove guide compares it with the ECO-55.
Old Englander pellet stove model numbers
The 25-PDVC, 25-PAH, 55-SHP10 and the other store-brand Englander pellet numbers have been discontinued, and the 25-CBPAH is the current replacement for all of them. If you're replacing one, our discontinued Englander models guide maps each old number to the current stove. Parts and support for older Englander pellet stoves now run through England's Stove Works. If you'd rather repair an older Englander, the control board chart and the igniter and auger motor guide match the parts to each old model number.
Installing a 25-CBPAH
The manual requires a minimum vertical rise of 36 inches on the vent and calls for 4" pellet vent on runs longer than 15 feet or above 4,000 feet of altitude. In a basement, it also asks for a 3" outside air pipe and recommends a professional installer. The floor protector needs an R-value of at least 0.2 and has to extend 6 inches past the front and sides; a concrete floor that meets the R-value needs no protector. Our pellet stove venting guide, installation guide and basement pellet stove guide cover the details.
Should you buy the 25-CBPAH?
- Yes, if the long burn time matters most, your house is well insulated or the stove is supplementing other heat, and you're happy with simple controls.
- Look at the Alpine HP42 if you want the same hopper with more heat and thermostat control for less money.
- Look at the HP22N or HP22 for whole-house heat with published EPA efficiency.
- Look at the ECO-65R if you want the longest burn and lowest emissions and the budget allows.
