Englander Pellet Stove Igniter and Auger Motor by Model
Share
Updated October 16, 2026
The short version: Most Englander pellet stoves take the PU-CHA igniter ($170). The 10-CPM, 25-PUF and Super 240 take the PU-CH6 ($90). Auger motors come in three speeds, 1, 2.4 and 4 RPM, and they are not interchangeable. Find your model in the chart below, and before you order a motor, check the RPM printed on the old one. The same parts fit the Summers Heat and Timber Ridge versions of each stove.
The igniter and the auger motor are the two parts that wear out on a pellet stove. The igniter is a heating element that gets red hot every start-up. The auger motor turns the screw that carries pellets from the hopper to the burn pot, thousands of cycles a season. When either one goes, the stove stops heating, and it usually happens on the coldest week of the year.

Igniter or auger motor? Figure out which one failed
This page is for choosing and fitting the right part. If you haven't pinned down the fault yet, start with our Englander pellet stove troubleshooting guide, which covers every E-code and symptom.
Unplug the stove before you open anything. Then match what you're seeing:
| What the stove does | Likely cause |
|---|---|
| Pellets land in a clean burn pot but never light | Igniter |
| Runs normally once lit, but never lights on its own | Igniter |
| Burn pot stays empty, hopper has pellets, motor silent | Auger motor, or a safety switch stopping the feed |
| Motor hums but the auger doesn't turn | Jammed auger first, then the motor |
| Feeds for a while, then stops and the fire dies | Usually a vacuum or high-limit switch, or a dirty exhaust. Rarely the motor |
| Display dead, nothing runs | Power or the control board |
Before you buy anything, clean the burn pot so every air hole is open, stir the hopper in case the pellets have bridged, and clean the exhaust path. Those three fix more "bad igniters" and "dead augers" than parts do. Our Englander pellet stove troubleshooting guide covers every E-code, and our pellet stove troubleshooting guide goes through each step. If the display is dead too, see the Englander control board guide.
Englander igniter and auger motor by model
Every model number below comes from Englander's replacement-parts lists. Use your browser's find (Ctrl+F, or Find in Page on a phone) and type your model number. The model is on the stove's safety label and on the cover of the owner's manual.
Two motors listed for your model? The parts lists show more than one auger motor for the 10-CDV and 10-CPM, so check before you order. Pull the old motor and read the RPM on its label, then order the one that matches. Don't guess on this one.
No igniter is listed in our catalog for the 10-CDV, 25-CB120, 25-SSP01, 55-SHP20, 55-SHPCB120, 55-SHSSP01, 55-TRP20, 55-TRPCB120, 55-TRSSP01. Call us with the model and serial number and we will check the parts list.
Replacing the igniter
Englander igniters are cartridge heaters: a metal rod that slides into a sleeve at the burn pot and heats the air blown through the pellets. The PU-CHA replaced the older PU-CH part number, so if your manual lists PU-CH, this is the one. The PU-CH6 is a 6" version for the 10-CPM, the 25-PUF and the Super 240 stoves.
A few things that make the job go smoothly:
- Unplug the stove and let it cool completely.
- Take a phone photo of where the igniter wires connect before you disconnect them.
- Seat the new element fully and secure it the same way the old one was held.
- On the 10-CPM, check the igniter sleeve while you're in there. If it's warped or burnt through, replace it at the same time ($42.99).
- A clean burn pot is the best thing you can do for igniter life. Ash in the air holes makes the igniter work longer every start.
Every igniter we carry, Englander and other brands, is in pellet stove igniters.
Replacing the auger motor

The auger motor is a slow gear motor bolted to the end of the auger shaft. The control board switches it on and off to meter the pellets, so the motor's speed is part of the stove's design. That's why the RPM has to match. A 2.4 RPM motor in a stove built for 1 RPM would more than double the feed rate.
Englander pellet stoves use three motors:
- 1 RPM motor, PU-047040 ($200). The 25-PDV, 25-PDVC and 25-PI family, the CAB80 stoves and their Summers Heat and Timber Ridge versions.
- 2.4 RPM motor ($200). The 25-PAH, 25-CBPAH, 25-EP, 25-IP, 25-CB120 and 25-SSP01 family, plus the 25-PUF and Super 240. The same motor is used in Drolet ECO-65 pellet stoves.
- 4 RPM motor, CU-047044 ($284). The 10-CDV, which turns clockwise.
If the auger is jammed, clear it before you blame the motor. Unplug the stove, empty the hopper, vacuum out the fines and look for an oversized pellet or a foreign object at the auger. Never put a hand or a tool near the auger with the stove plugged in.
Every auger motor we carry is in pellet stove auger motors.
Auger and feed system parts
If the auger itself is worn or the feeder is cracked, a new motor won't fix the feed. These are the feed parts we carry for Englander pellet stoves, along with the igniters and motors above:

While the stove is open
A stove that's old enough to wear out an igniter or an auger motor is often due for blower service too. The combustion (exhaust) blower PU-076002B ($440) fits every Englander pellet stove in the chart above. If you pull it for cleaning or replacement, fit a new gasket kit PU-CBMG ($42.99) when it goes back in. Room air blowers are the PU-4C442 ($409) and the PU-4C447 ($335), depending on the model. And if you're past the simple parts and into a dead display, the control board guide matches your model to the right board profile.
Everything we carry for these stoves is in Englander stove parts. For the weekly and yearly cleaning that keeps igniters and augers alive, see pellet stove maintenance.
Frequently asked questions
How do I know if my Englander pellet stove igniter is bad?
Pellets drop into a clean burn pot during start-up but never start to smoke or glow, and the stove eventually faults out on a failed start. If your manual allows lighting by hand and the stove runs normally once it's lit, the igniter is almost certainly the problem.
Is PU-CHA the same as PU-CH?
PU-CHA is the current part number for the PU-CH cartridge heater. If your manual lists PU-CH, the PU-CHA igniter is its replacement.
Can I use a different RPM auger motor?
No. The board times how long the auger runs, so a faster or slower motor changes how many pellets reach the burn pot. Too fast overfeeds and too slow starves the fire. Read the RPM off the label on your old motor and match it.
Why does my auger motor hum but not turn?
Usually a jam, not a dead motor. Unplug the stove, empty the hopper and clear the fines and any oversized pellets from the auger. If the auger turns freely by hand and the motor still only hums, the motor has failed.
Do these parts fit Summers Heat and Timber Ridge pellet stoves?
Yes. Summers Heat (55-SHP) and Timber Ridge (55-TRP) pellet stoves were built by England's Stove Works and take the same igniters and auger motors as the matching Englander model. They're in the chart above.
