The Drolet Heritage wood stove (model DB03190) is a traditional-looking pedestal stove that comes with its blower already in the box. It heats 500 to 2,100 sq ft with a maximum heat output of 75,000 BTU/h, takes logs up to 20" and is rated for burn times up to 8 hours. It is EPA 2020 certified at 2.3 g/h emissions, with an average overall efficiency of 72% (HHV) and an optimum overall efficiency of 79%. Heavy-duty 5/16" steel top with a stainless steel heat shield over a 3/16" steel body, cast iron door frame with decorative trim, refractory brick lining and a vermiculite baffle. Pedestal with ash drawer, 100 CFM variable-speed blower included, 6" top flue outlet. Certified for mobile home and alcove installation. Made in Canada.

Who the Heritage is for

The Heritage is a primary heater for a mid-size home. It suits:

Homes and cottages of about 500 to 2,100 sq ft, including main floors with an open layout.
Buyers who want the blower included rather than added later; it pushes heat into adjoining rooms instead of letting it pool around the stove.
Rooms where a classic look matters: a cast iron door with decorative upper and lower trim and a full pedestal base.

Drolet's heating area is the space the stove can keep at a minimum comfortable temperature in a power outage. Insulation, layout and climate all move it. The blower needs power; the stove itself does not, so it still heats by radiation in an outage.

Firebox and loading

The firebox has an overall volume of 2.4 cu ft (1.95 cu ft EPA loading volume) and measures about 21" wide, 11 3/4" high and 16 3/4" deep. Logs load east-west, side to side, up to 20" long; Drolet recommends 16" splits, the length used in EPA testing. The door opening is 17 1/2" x 9", with ceramic glass and an air wash that helps keep the glass clear. Overall the stove measures 26" wide, 32" deep and 32 3/4" high, and it ships at about 367 lb.

Burn time and heat output

Drolet rates the Heritage at up to 75,000 BTU/h with a dense load of dry cordwood, and at 14,200 to 44,500 BTU/h overall heat output from low to high burn under EPA test conditions. The maximum burn time is up to 8 hours; treat it as a best case. Wood species, moisture, load size, chimney draft and air setting all shorten or stretch it.

On a cold start, give the fire the full air setting (the control is under the ash shelf) and a few minutes with the door ajar before you turn it down.

Blower

The Heritage includes Drolet's 100 CFM variable-speed blower, the same unit sold separately as the AC02050. It mounts on the back of the stove. For automatic on/off, the manual lists the Quick Connect Thermodisc (AC02055), which runs the blower only when the stove is hot.

Venting and installation

The Heritage has a 6" top flue outlet and uses 6" connector pipe. It must connect to a UL 103 HT (2,100°F) factory-built chimney or a code-approved masonry chimney with a flue liner, with at least 12 ft of total flue height. Plan for side room: in the USA the Heritage needs 22" to the side walls with either pipe type. Double-wall connector pipe cuts the rear clearance from 11" to 6"; corners stay at 12". With double-wall pipe and the certified modular wall heat shield (AC02762), the manual allows 3" to the rear and 4" to the sides. For a mobile home, Drolet requires double-wall pipe and the 5" fresh air intake kit for pedestal stoves (AC01336) with insulated intake duct.

Floor protection

Unless the stove sits on a non-combustible floor such as concrete, it needs a continuous non-combustible ember pad; no R-value is required. In the USA, the pad extends 16" in front of the door opening and 8" to each side. The 46 3/4" x 54" black steel hearth pad covers the Heritage's footprint plus those extensions; see all hearth pads.

What size space will the Drolet Heritage heat?

The Heritage is rated to heat between 500 and 2,100 sq ft at up to 75,000 BTU/h, depending on your home's insulation, ceiling height, and local climate. It's one of the larger stoves in the lineup, well-suited as a primary heat source.

How close can the Heritage sit to a combustible wall?

In the USA with single-wall connector pipe, the Heritage needs 11" to the rear wall, 22" to the side walls and 12" in a corner installation. Double-wall connector pipe cuts the rear clearance to 6" (side 22", corner 12"). With double-wall pipe and the certified AC02762 modular wall heat shield, the manual allows 3" to the rear wall, 4" to the side walls and 3" in a corner. The minimum ceiling height is 84" from the floor. See the clearance table on this page and section 3 of the owner's manual, and have the install inspected per local code.

What floor protection does the Heritage require?

Unless it sits on a non-combustible floor such as concrete, the Heritage needs a continuous non-combustible ember pad (steel at least 0.015" thick, grouted tile over a continuous non-combustible sheet, cement board or similar). No R-value is required. In the USA the pad must extend 16" in front of the door opening and 8" to each side of the stove, and under any horizontal run of connector pipe. What chimney or venting does the Heritage need?

The Heritage requires a 6" diameter Class A chimney meeting CAN/ULC S629 or UL 103 HT (2100°F) standards, with a minimum height of 12 feet. A properly sized and lined chimney ensures safe operation and optimal draft.

Can the Heritage be installed in a mobile home or alcove?

Yes. In a mobile (manufactured) home Drolet requires double-wall connector pipe (single-wall pipe is forbidden), the 5" fresh air intake kit for pedestal stoves (AC01336) with insulated intake duct, and USA clearances of 11" rear, 24" side and 13" corner. In a combustible alcove, with double-wall pipe, the manual requires 9" to the rear wall, 23" to the side walls and a minimum alcove ceiling height of 77" from the floor (section 3.1.4).

How long will the Heritage burn on one load?

The Heritage delivers up to 8 hours of burn time on a full load of dry cordwood up to 20" long. Actual burn time will vary with wood species, moisture content (below 20% is recommended), and your air control setting.

What comes in the box with the Heritage, and what is the warranty?

The Heritage ships with the stove on its pedestal with ash drawer, a 100 CFM variable-speed blower, air deflector, ceramic glass, ash lip and air damper. Venting, hearth pad and other accessories are sold separately; for automatic blower on/off add the Quick Connect Thermodisc (AC02055). The stove carries Drolet's limited lifetime warranty (lifetime on the combustion chamber welds and cast iron door frame); see the Warranty section for full coverage terms.

Is the Heritage EPA 2020 certified, and does it qualify for a tax credit?

Yes, the Heritage is EPA 2020 certified at 2.3 g/h particulate emissions. On the tax credit: the 30% federal biomass stove tax credit (Section 25C, up to $2,000) was ended early by the 'One Big Beautiful Bill' signed in July 2025, and expired on December 31, 2025 — so there is no federal biomass stove tax credit for purchases in 2026 and onwards. Tax laws change often; confirm current credits with a tax professional or the IRS website before purchasing. Some state and local utility programs still offer rebates for efficient heating appliances — check your state energy office.

La clé d'ouverture n'a pas assez de jeu, car nous sommes obligés de laisser la porte avec un peu ouverte lors de l'allumage.....sinon la fumée s'accumule et ne s'allume pas . Autre problème: nous sommes obligés de placer les bûches sur la largeur et non en profondeur, c'est plus difficile que de les placer ainsi.

Large fire box, clean looking design, robust construction. Logs will burn for a long time, but so far haven't been able to get it very hot, even with damper open. Not sure if that's an airflow issue, either by design or if I missed something during installation. The blower mounted to the rear of the unit does a great job circulating heat through the room.

We like our new stove, Just a couple things could be improved, damper system does not open enough to get the fire going. As the manual states you have to leave the front door open to get enough draft. We also have to do that often to get it hot enough to keep the glass clean. Beware where grabbing the handle to open the stove and that you don't "unscrew" it over a period of time.

A heavy duty build that should last quite a few years. It puts out impressive heat when needed, yet too much when around freezing or above - wish I could throttle the air intake down, but how to adjust? Wood will not orient well depth-wise. Charcoal ash builds up too easily past the lower opening edge and creates a mess when opening the door (most every time), especially burning Birch. I find this is a messy stove when comparing to others I have used. For the shop-use that's acceptable, but not compared to the Pacific Energy in my home - my wife enjoys cleanliness. I will be getting the outdoor fresh air option to increase the heat retention for this leaky old mobile home workshop, especially when temperatures plummet. I should have purchased the Black Stag instead - unfortunately not available at that time. Overall, it is the heavy duty stove it promised to be with impressive heat output, yet the ash-well should have been designed deeper. It has a reasonable over-night burn time for easy morning starts. Next year I will cut 15" cords instead of the normal 17" so that the orientation is depth-wise, which I suspect is a better, cleaner burn, front to back. Purchased and installed October 2022.

Beau petit poêle, grosseur moyenne, bien hâte de commencer à l'utiliser, il est juste un peu plus grand que celui qu'on avait avant mais semble avoir beaucoup plus d'espace car il est plus haut aussi. L'emballage en bois dans lequel il a été livré était super, ça a été assez facile, malgré son poids total de 368 livres, de le descendre au sous-sol. Il paraît bien pour un modèle que je trouvais un peu ordinaire.

Je suis quand même assez satisfait du Poêle Heritage… Surpris même…. Les points que j'aime moins sont les suivant: 1- Les supports frontaux qui empêchent les bûches de tomber sont fait des Stainless trop mince. Ils se déforment a la moindre pression provenant des grosses bûches au chargement or quand la porte ferme un peu « serré » 2- Le déflecteur supérieur fait de matériel réfractaire est très léger et, malheureusement, aucun artifice n'a été conçu pour qu'il ne se déplace pas de façons indues d'avant /arrière quand on charge les bûches de bois. Ceci peut être potentiellement dangereux si les gaz /la flamme ne se dirige pas sur le trajet prévu du à ce problème facile a résoudre. 3- Les briques réfractaires au pourtour de la chambre de combustion se déplace tout aussi facilement m'obligeant ainsi à les replacer souvent avec un tisonnier.
