Drolet Blackcomb II Wood Stove

Enjoys the stove .Nice heat

C,est un poele de salon.. Tres beau a voir bruler le bois qui doit être entree paralellement a la porte car juste 10 pouces de profond. largeur de possibilite de charge n'est pas de 18 pouces, mais de 17. Possibilite de charge de 3 buches pas trop grosse. Je ne crois pas que ce poele puisse chauffer ma maison de 24x36 par -30c. Ca prend des gants de qualité pour charge de bois, pour ne pas prendre de risque de se bruller sur la braise. Ca fait une semaine qu'il est installer et je commence a regarder pour le change. DECEPTION TOTAL.

Avec une résidence de 1300 pi.ca. le Blackcomb II est tout simplement parfait. Installé au point central entre salon et cuisine et muni de deux ventilateurs activié par la chaleur, il rend la maison très confortable. Il "rend la marchandise". Pour un poêle de taille moyenne, sa grande vitre est un atout. Dans notre maison de campagne, le Blackcomb est génial.

Je recommande fortement ce poêle à bois qui réchauffe bien la maison!

Wonderful stove! I have a new mobile home which equals out to 1071 square feet and this stove keeps it nothing but hot as you want it. Has a traditional look and it keeps up to whatever nova Scotia winters have to offer.

Diffuse pas bien la chaleur, je devrais faire l'achat d'un ventilateur Drolet, ce qui n'était pas prévu ni discuté par le vendeur, mais suggéré par le service à la clientèle chez Drolet. Acheté chez BMR à Rimouski, car installé au chalet dans cette région.

We haven't tried it yet as we are waiting for wood. It looks great and there were no issues installing it. We also got the attached fan, which is new for us. I will get back to you when I have more to add.

Great so far just installed today

Warms the place well, however needs a few design changes. Bottom of front opening lip is too low allowing excessive ash to spill out. This is first stove owned that loads side to side and find wood has a tendancy to want to roll out. With the stainless steel stops in place it is difficult to load firewood. Would rather it load front to back as previous woodstove, then rolling would be side to side, and not tend to roll towards front.

I have been using this Blackcomb II stove for about 1 month now and so far it has exceeded my expectations. I'm still fine tuning my operation of the stove, but it is clearly very efficient and once it is going, it burns very cleanly. The extra large ash drawer and internal ash plug make cleaning between fires hassle-free.

I CHOSE THE DROLET BLACKCOMB 2 STOVE FOR SIZE AND EFFICIENCY. i WANTED ENOUGH HEAT WITH EMISSION MINIMIZATION- (WASTE NOT, WANT NOT) Being a plumbing contractor and installing several wood stoves and vent systems over the 38 years in business made this a welcome challenge, although you need to understand and follow all directions and ask questions if in doubt. now waiting for some cooler weather to break this unit in.

Il fonctionne très bien. Et dégage beaucoup de chaleur. Par contre après seulement 4 fois d'utilisation, le scellant de la porte s'est ouvert et commence à se dégrader. Très décevant

L'installation a été facile en reconnectant les tuyaux existants. Nous l'avons essayé et on a trouvé que ça prend un certain temps avant que la cage chauffe. Par la suite on a senti une bonne chaleur. Faut dire qu'il ne faisait pas très froid à l'extérieur. On pense que ça fera le travail. À suivre ... La documentation fournie est très bien faite et complète.

Easy installation

I haven't got it fully setup yet, but it looks really nice and seems to be good quality. It was delivered quickly and without any damage. The delivery guy even helped us get it inside the house. I was very impressed with the Drolet customer service when I called them to ask questions before making my purchase as well. I'll know more once I get it fully setup and start using it, but so far I am very happy with the purchase. Good value.

I recently purchased the Drolet Blackcomb 2 wood stove. I've been using it for about 4 months now during the 2022-2023 winter season in south central Kentucky. Low temps have ranged from mid 30's to 0 degrees Fahrenheit. I live in a 1400 square ft home that was built in the 1940's but has been remodeled and built on to, so some of the house is well insulated and other parts ( just a few walls ) haven't been insulated, but the attic is well insulated throughout. I researched all different stoves before making my purchase and going with Drolet. I wanted a stove that wouldn't break the bank but also not the cheap made stoves that the local farm store keeps in stock for only the winter season…. All that being said I am not disappointed. It is a very well made stove, if anything it's a little too much stove for my home. On the Drolet website I think this stove is rated for 1800 square ft home, however in my climate zone it's rated more for a 2000 sq ft home. So the only time I was able to completely load it full has been back when it was single digits and teens. However in the owners manual it gives very helpful instructions on how to use the stove and load the wood in milder temperatures. I highly recommend following these guidelines especially the instructions on loading and lighting the stove. One of the biggest complaints in reviews that I found was difficulty lighting the stove. However after owning one and experimenting with different techniques I've found that using the top down method mentioned in the owners manual, and using a butane torch to light the kindling, accompanied with making sure your wood is well seasoned ( my wood was acquired 8-9 months before the burning season started), the stove lights with absolutely no problem at all. The only trouble I have is there seems to be a very fine line of when to close the air intake control. If it's closed too early the flame goes out and the fire smolders, close it too late and the fire burns uncontrollably, so if it's too hot you have no way of shutting the stove down and you just have to wait till the fire dies down. When I purchased the stove the manufacturer said I didn't need to install a damper in the stove pipe, so I didn't. But I am considering adding a damper in the stove pipe to try and give a little more control over the fire. All this being said I highly recommend the Drolet brand, it's a well built stove if your looking for a good mid grade stove that's not going to cost thousands of dollars but not the cheap made stoves that the local farm stores in my area carry. The stove works best when instructions in owners manual are followed and dry seasoned wood is used. My stove has had burning coals left in it up to 8 hours after loading depending on how much wood was loaded, what type of wood and the outside temp. Also the ash pan and plug is very convenient and makes cleaning ashes out fast and easy. The only thing I would change when purchasing is paying more attention to what size stove I needed for a 1400 sq ft home in my climate zone. But at the time I was more concerned with being able to fit longer logs in the burn box ( my mistake ). Also I had several questions for the manufacturer before I purchased the stove, Drolet was very prompt and helpful in responding. I hope this review helps anyone considering a new stove purchase, Drolet won't disappoint.

Just installed today!

We are very pleased with the Blackcomb II stove. It's efficient and much easier to light a fire than our old wood stove was. The paint smell was mild to annoying for the first 10 days since the fires were kept low as our installer recommended. The air purifier helped clean the indoor air of the smell plus any smoke. We enjoy seeing the fire during storms and cold days which is a comfort as we know the house is warm. We use a glass cleaner for the glass door since it gets smokey but cleans up easily.

Le Lackcomb II est le 5e poêle à bois que j'ai acheté. C'est le premier qui ne brûle pas tout le bois pour le rendre en cendre. Je chauffe uniquement au bois, il faut donc que je le vide à tous les jours avant de le repartir. J'ai tenté de faire brûler le bois en laissant la clé ouverte pour la nuit, en vain. Bref, pas trop commode. Je n'ai jamais eu à vider un poêle à chaque jour avant. Et en effet, les bûches tombent souvent dans la fenêtre. Seul bon point, cette fenêtre est rarement noircie.

Stove was professionally assembled and installed. Within about one month of use, the stove door has become difficult to fully open and the door would not close tight. It appears the door hinges or hinge pins have shifted or warped. The handle end of the door also dropped slightly and the door would not fully seal until the latch mechanism was readjusted. I'm hoping the door alignment and adjustment issue can be corrected, as this is essentially a brand new stove, otherwise it appear to be a quality stove.

De mon côté, je ne l'ai pas installé encore ; l'achat étant tout récent, mais je suis ravie de mon achat. Il s'agit du remplacement d'un poêle déjà existant, que j'ai décidé de renouveler. Après de nombreuses recherches sur le net ; considérant les recommandations pour les produits Drolet, et suite aux commentaires positifs de clients qui ont achetés le BlackComb II, j'ai été convaincu de la qualité du produit, et de la satisfaction des acheteurs. Je devrais le mettre en opération dans les prochaines semaines, et je suis convaincu que je ne serai pas déçu ! Voilà !

Very efficient stove. Suits our needs. The heat that is created is superb and efficient. One thing to note, light the stove before install for minimal burn off.

We bought this stove based on ratings and price. It is a great quality stove. Very easy to use. It heats up quickly and puts out a great amount of heat with a small amount of wood. We purchased the optional blower and thermodisk. It is quiet and really helps distribute the through the house. Overall we couldn't be happier with this product.

The unit arrived with a scrape mark on the front eventhough inside a crate. First use the inside rope seal on the door melted against the unit and frayed.

I have purchased the Drolet Blackcomb ll. Winter is almost over here in south central Kentucky so I doubt I'll have a chance to use this stove this season. My house is about 1400 square foot. I read many reviews on many different brands and I decided to go with Drolet because it seemed like a good mid grade stove. Most of what is readily available in hardware/farm stores in my area seem to be bottom of the line cheaper made stoves (based on observation and reviews). One of the main selling points with Drolet was the customer service. I had a million questions and they were very patient and helpful. They always responded to my emails and even sent pictures of diagrams to explain the answers to my questions. Also a selling point was that the chimney sweep company I used to install my liner had previously had an encounter with another customer that purchased the Drolet escape 1800 and he said it was the best investment he had ever made. So I ordered a Drolet stove and I received it 6 days after ordering. It looks just like it did in the pictures, very good looking stove! All the firebox measurements that were on line are right on. I am still in the process of installing but I look forward to using it next season. Based on what I know at the moment ( I have not used the stove yet) I would recommend Drolet to anyone that doesn't have the money to get an expensive wood stove but doesn't want the cheaper made ones either.

Replacing a smaller stove like the look and size unit is built strong definitely would recommend

Very pleased overall. The ash box is huge. The ash plug inside is solid unlike others I've used. The firebox is great. The glass is beautiful and a great size. I also love the flat top, which was exactly what I wanted.

I absolutely love this stove! I've used it three times, and am impressed with the heat produced. The 6 hour burn time is very conservative. I have got over 8 so far. I burn seasoned hardwood only. 10-12% moisture content. The thickness of the top makes a huge difference! Still not really cold here yet in North Central Kentucky. I researched stoves over the last year, and chose Drolet. Follow Drolet's chart on btu and zone where you live. I have 1800 sq ft. It says this will heat up to 2100 sq ft in my zone. I believe it. Glad I didn't go bigger. The Thermodisk is also a great add on! PLUS….MADE IN CANADA! Thanks Drolet! Hope this review helps others!

Very pleased with efficiency, and ease of emptying ashes. An upgrade from our previous Drolet.

Our previous wood stove only a flue damper for burn control. It is a very poor method as the fires always burned hot. It is amazing the difference with the Blackcomb II how air-tight it is. Being able to control the air flow on the intake side is simply a blessing. I can see already that our firewood consumption this winter will be greatly reduced!!!

Although we have had only a couple of fires in it so far, we are very pleased with the heat it emits as well as the appearance of the unit. It appears to be well constructed and we love that the glass is not smoking up as it did in our older model.

So far the wood stove looks great. It looks like excellent quality. I like the flat top in case a want to heat water or something. The ash plug looks very solid. I've had other flimsy ones break on me. The ash drawer is a nice size and so is the size of the ash shelf outside the door. I do think the air control knob could be in a better spot. Your hand pretty much rubs on the bottom of the ash shelf and could get cut when moving the air control lever. It should at least be bent down.

Happy with the Blackcomb but the only thing is you have to place the log well to avoid that is falling back on the glass door. My unit had a default on the door, I had to correct one of the join on the door because the door was getting stocked and not fully opening. Now it's working fine.

I have not used it yet. It looks sturdy.
