The Drolet Fox is a compact wood stove that brings both function and character to smaller spaces. Heating up to 1,200 sq ft with 45,000 BTU/h, it's EPA 2020 certified at 1.8 g/h and built for cabins, cottages, or small homes. A deep combustion chamber reduces ash buildup between cleanings, and the distinctive cast iron door with fox motif sets it apart from standard stoves. Ships via LTL (Less Than Truckload) freight – carriers include XPO Logistics, Estes Express, ABF Freight, Old Dominion, and FedEx Freight. Transit time is typically 3–10 business days from ship date. The carrier will call to schedule a delivery appointment.

Curbside delivery only. The driver will lower your order to the curb or end of your driveway via liftgate. This does not include bringing the item inside, carrying up stairs, or crossing uneven terrain.

Have an appliance dolly and an extra person available on delivery day. Need inside or threshold delivery? Contact us before ordering.

Inspect before signing. Before signing the Bill of Lading (BOL), check for any visible packaging damage. Write "DAMAGED" or "Subject to inspection" on the BOL if anything looks off.

Returns. Unused, uninstalled units in original packaging can be returned within 30 days. Appliance returns are subject to a $300 return freight charge plus a 15% restocking fee. Units that have been fired or installed cannot be returned. Accessories and parts carry a 15% restocking fee.

What size space will the Fox heat?

What clearances and chimney does it need?

The Fox uses a 6" diameter flue outlet and requires a 6" insulated class-A chimney system (or an approved listed chimney). Its clearances to combustible walls are listed in the Specifications section on this page and in the owner's manual. Always confirm the published clearances for your exact configuration and have the installation inspected to local code before first use.

Does the Fox have a glass door, or a solid door?

The Fox has a solid cast iron door with no glass viewing window — it does not offer a view of the flames. This is a deliberate part of its design and its distinctive cast iron fox motif. If seeing the fire is important to you, a stove with a ceramic glass door would be a better match; if you prefer the classic look and durability of a solid cast door, the Fox delivers exactly that.

Can I cook or boil water on top of the Fox?

The top of the stove gets very hot during operation and can be used to warm food or boil water in a pot or kettle. To protect the finish, it's best to use cookware rather than placing food directly on the surface — many owners set a piece of removable stainless steel on top as a cooking surface that can be cleaned afterward. Never leave cooking unattended while the stove is hot.

Can I burn coal in the Fox?

No — the Fox is a wood-burning stove only and is not designed or certified to burn coal. Burning coal can damage the firebox and will void the warranty. Use only well-seasoned cordwood for safe, efficient, clean-burning operation.

Is the Fox EPA certified?

Yes. The Fox is EPA 2020 certified with average particulate emissions of 1.8 g/h, comfortably below the 2.5 g/h federal standard. Its deep combustion chamber also helps reduce ash buildup between cleanings, so you spend less time maintaining it.

Is the Fox eligible for the 30% federal tax credit?

The 30% federal biomass stove tax credit (Section 25C) was ended early by the "One Big Beautiful Bill" signed in July 2025, and expired on December 31, 2025 — so there is no federal biomass stove tax credit for purchases in 2026 and onwards. Tax laws change often; confirm current credits with a tax professional or the IRS website before purchasing. Some state and local utility programs still offer rebates for efficient heating appliances — check your state energy office.

The floor protector pieces (with no R- value) do not clip, snap, or otherwise fit securely together. The wood stove itself looks great in our corner - we haven't used it yet

We are very pleased with this unit it small but it throws allot of heat and it burns allot longer then 5hrs I filled it and was gone 8hrs when I got home it I was amazed with he heat and there is still hot coals. We are amazed at this product. This is only day 1

I absolutely love the Drolet Fox stove. I put it in my 975 sqft mobile home. It heats the house quickly and stays warm for quite a few hours after the fire is only coals. Last night loaded it at 7:45pm with pine and fir and there were still coals when I checked in on it at 7am. So happy with this little stove.

Stove works great and runs 24/7 for us in the winter in the north east united states. One of my complaints is how quickly the top rusted despite taking care of it. I had to sand and re finish it sooner than I thought I would (after one season) but that's fine. Great little efficient stove.

If you live in Western Canada, do not purchase a stove from this company. Their receipt says Expected Date of delivery and this is not accurate. They charge over $100 for a delivery which they cannot tell you when it will be delivered. When I inquired about these issues their customer service person, they are not helpful, tells you the shipping company will call when they don't, and after two weeks still don't have an actual 'expected date' of delivery. Therefore, the customer service was terrible, not reliable, still have not delivered a product that was paid for and are worried we have been scammed.
