Overview
🎁 INCLUDED FREE: Magnetic Stove Thermometer and 50 Fire Starters — everything you need for your first fire.
The Drolet Spark II N wood stove (model DB03402) is the current version of the Drolet Spark II, one of the most compact EPA-certified wood stoves you can buy. It heats 250 to 1,200 sq ft with a maximum heat output of 75,000 BTU/h, takes logs up to 17" and burns up to 5 hours per load. It is EPA 2020 certified at 1.7 g/h with 74% average efficiency (HHV), stands on steel legs (18 1/2" W x 29 3/4" D x 28 3/4" H) and is approved for mobile homes and alcoves.
Who the Spark II N is for
Choose the Spark II N for:
- Cabins, cottages, workshops and small homes of up to about 1,200 sq ft.
- Tight rooms where a short, narrow stove on legs fits better than a pedestal model.
- Mobile and manufactured homes, with the required fresh air kit and double-wall pipe.
Insulation, layout and climate all move the real heating area. For longer overnight burns or more than 1,200 sq ft, step up to a larger model from our wood stove collection.
Spark II vs. Spark II N: what changed
If you searched for the Drolet Spark II (DB03401), this is the model Drolet builds today. The original Spark II's EPA certification ran out on September 21, 2026, and Drolet replaced it with the Spark II N. The size, legs and look are nearly the same. Inside, Drolet's NexBurn system sends primary air along the length of the fire and adds a tertiary combustion zone, lifting maximum output from 45,000 to 75,000 BTU/h with slightly lower emissions.

| Spark II (DB03401) | Spark II N (DB03402) | |
|---|---|---|
| Max heat output | 45,000 BTU/h | 75,000 BTU/h |
| Overall output range | 12,124–26,700 BTU/h | 18,782–71,262 BTU/h |
| Firebox (overall / EPA) | 1.8 / 1.55 cu ft | 1.85 / 1.67 cu ft |
| Emissions | 1.8 g/h | 1.7 g/h |
| Rear / side / corner (single-wall pipe, USA) | 12" / 18" / 11" | 14" / 24" / 16" |
| Fresh air intake kit | AC01421 | AC01422 |
Heating area (250–1,200 sq ft), 17" logs, 5-hour maximum burn, 74% HHV efficiency and the 6" flue are unchanged. Replacing an older Spark II? The N is not a drop-in swap: it needs 24" to a side wall instead of 18", and 14" to the rear instead of 12" with single-wall pipe. Measure before you order.
Firebox, burn time and heat output
The firebox has an overall volume of 1.85 cu ft (1.67 cu ft EPA loading volume) and measures about 14 1/4" wide, 11 3/4" high and 18 7/8" deep. Logs load north-south, front to back with the ends facing the door, up to 17" long; Drolet recommends 16" splits. The door opening is 12" x 7 5/8"; a combustion grate under the fire helps it light quickly.
Under EPA test conditions the Spark II N delivers 18,782 to 71,262 BTU/h from low to high burn. Treat the 5-hour maximum burn as a best case; dry hardwood, a full load and good draft get you closest to it.
Spark II N vs. Escape 1200 N vs. Blue Ridge 100 N
Two other stoves we sell share the same NexBurn performance figures; the differences are the base and the styling.

Blower option
A blower isn't required; the stove heats by radiation and natural convection on its own. To move more warm air into the next room, add the Drolet 100 CFM variable-speed blower (AC02050), the blower listed in the Spark II N parts list. Pair it with the Quick Connect Thermodisc (AC02055) so it runs only when the stove is hot.
Venting and installation
The Spark II N has a 6" flue outlet and uses 6" connector pipe. It must connect to a UL 103 HT (2,100°F) factory-built chimney or a code-approved masonry chimney, at least 12 ft tall. See our wood stove chimney and stovepipe guide, 6" stove pipe kits and chimney liner kits. In the USA, double-wall connector pipe lets the stove sit 8" from the rear wall instead of 14", and 14" from a corner instead of 16"; the side wall stays at 24". With double-wall pipe and the certified 53" x 58 1/2" wall heat shield (AC02762), rear, side and corner clearances drop to 3". For a mobile home, single-wall pipe is forbidden and Drolet requires the 5" fresh air intake kit (AC01422) with insulated duct such as our insulated flex pipe (AC02090).
Floor protection
Unless the stove sits on a non-combustible floor such as concrete, it needs a continuous non-combustible ember pad; no R-value is required. In the USA, the pad extends 16" in front of the door opening and 8" to each side. The 46 3/4" x 54" black steel hearth pad covers the Spark II N's footprint plus those extensions; see all hearth pads.

The stove measures 18 1/2" wide, 29 3/4" deep and 28 3/4" high on its steel legs, with the 6" flue collar centered 9 1/4" from the side and 7 5/8" from the back. Shipping weight is 244 lb. Key dimensions are also in the Specifications section below.
Important if you are replacing an older Spark II or Fox: the N needs noticeably more room. The outgoing model required 12" rear, 18" side and 11" corner. Measure your alcove or corner before ordering. Always confirm against section 3 of the installation manual.
On the tax credit: the 30% federal biomass stove tax credit (Section 25C, up to $2,000) was ended early by the 'One Big Beautiful Bill' signed in July 2025 and expired on December 31, 2025, so there is no federal biomass stove tax credit for purchases in 2026 onwards. Confirm current credits with a tax professional or the IRS. Some state and local utility rebates still exist — check your state energy office.
