The Drolet Deco Alto wood stove (model DB03220) is the big brother of the Deco II: a tall, contemporary stove whose firebox sits on a pedestal with built-in log storage and an ash drawer. It heats 500 to 2,100 sq ft with a maximum heat output of 75,000 BTU/h, takes logs up to 20" and burns up to 8 hours per load. It is EPA 2020 certified at 2.3 g/h, with 72% average efficiency (HHV) and 79% optimum efficiency, and approved for mobile homes and alcoves. 25 5/8" W x 26 1/2" D x 39 3/4" H, 390 lb shipping weight.
Who the Deco Alto is for
- Main heat for homes of roughly 1,000 to 2,100 sq ft, especially open-concept living areas and great rooms.
- Modern interiors where the stove is a design piece: nearly 40" tall, with a 16 3/4" x 10 1/4" ceramic glass view and an air wash to help keep it clear.
- Owners who want the next few loads of wood stored right under the fire.
Insulation, layout and climate all move the real heating area. For a single room or under about 1,000 sq ft, a smaller stove from our wood stove collection will burn cleaner at low output.
Firebox, burn time and heat output
The firebox has an overall volume of 2.4 cu ft (1.95 cu ft EPA loading volume) and measures 21" wide, 11 7/8" high and 16 1/2" deep. Logs load east-west, side to side, up to 20" long; Drolet recommends 16" splits, the length used for its EPA testing. The door opening is 17 1/2" x 9". The top is 5/16" steel reinforced with a stainless heat shield over a 3/16" steel body.
Under EPA test conditions the Deco Alto delivers 14,200 to 44,500 BTU/h from low to high burn, and up to 75,000 BTU/h on a dense load of dry cordwood. Treat the 8-hour maximum burn as a best case; dry hardwood, a full load and good draft get you closest to it.
Deco Alto vs. Escape 1800 vs. Deco II
The Drolet Escape 1800 is the Deco Alto's performance twin: the manuals list the same firebox, output, burn time and emissions in a traditional body on legs. The Drolet Deco II has the same tall, modern look in a smaller size.

Blower option
A blower isn't required; the Deco Alto heats by radiation and natural convection. To push more warm air toward adjoining rooms, add the Drolet 100 CFM variable-speed blower (AC02050), the blower listed in the Deco Alto parts list, with the Quick Connect Thermodisc (AC02055) so it runs only when the stove is hot.
Venting and installation
The Deco Alto has a 6" flue outlet and uses 6" connector pipe to a UL 103 HT (2,100°F) factory-built chimney or a code-approved masonry chimney, at least 12 ft tall. In the USA it needs 11" to the rear wall, 22" to a side wall and 12" to a corner with single-wall pipe; double-wall connector pipe brings the rear to 6". With double-wall pipe and the certified 60" x 64 1/8" wall heat shield (AC02765), the manual allows 3" to the rear, 4" to the side and 3" to a corner. Allow 84" from the floor to a combustible ceiling. For a mobile home, single-wall pipe is forbidden and Drolet requires the 5" fresh air intake kit (AC01338) with insulated duct such as our insulated flex pipe (AC02090).
Floor protection
Unless the stove sits on a non-combustible floor such as concrete, it needs a continuous non-combustible ember pad; no R-value is required. In the USA, the pad extends 16" in front of the door opening and 8" to each side. The 46 3/4" x 54" black steel hearth pad covers the Deco Alto's pedestal plus those extensions; see all hearth pads.

Ships via LTL (Less Than Truckload) freight – carriers include XPO Logistics, Estes Express, ABF Freight, Old Dominion, and FedEx Freight. Transit time is typically 3–10 business days from ship date. The carrier will call to schedule a delivery appointment.
Remote addresses. Some rural or hard-to-access addresses carry a carrier freight surcharge. If yours does, we'll email you the exact amount for approval before your order is processed — or you can cancel for a full refund.
Curbside delivery only. The driver will lower your order to the curb or end of your driveway via liftgate. This does not include bringing the item inside, carrying up stairs, or crossing uneven terrain.
Have an appliance dolly and an extra person available on delivery day. Need inside or threshold delivery? Contact us before ordering.
Inspect before signing. Before signing the Bill of Lading (BOL), check for any visible packaging damage. Write "DAMAGED" or "Subject to inspection" on the BOL if anything looks off.
Contact us within 5 business days of delivery. Open and fully inspect your item within 48 hours.
Returns. Unused, uninstalled units in original packaging can be returned within 30 days. Appliance returns are subject to a $300 return freight charge plus a 15% restocking fee. Units that have been fired or installed cannot be returned. Accessories and parts carry a 15% restocking fee.
