Which Fire Screen Fits My Wood Stove? Drolet & Englander Fitment Chart

Updated October 2026

Fire screens are matched to your stove's door opening, not its model name. That one fact explains most of the confusion around buying one. Stove Builder International builds Drolet, Englander, Osburn, Enerzone and Century Heating stoves on shared fireboxes, so a single part number covers models across five brands — and two stoves with completely different names take the same screen.

Below is the full fitment chart with the door-opening dimensions taken from each appliance's own installation manual, plus the honest version of what a screen actually does to your stove's heat output. Every screen we carry is in fire screens for wood stoves.

Start here: what a fire screen costs you

A wood stove is designed and certified to run with the door closed. That closed firebox is what lets it control combustion air, burn cleanly, and push heat into your room instead of up the flue. Open the door and fit a screen, and you have converted an efficient heater into an open fireplace for the evening.

You will lose most of the stove's heat output while the screen is in. That is not a defect — it is the physics of an open firebox, and it applies to every brand equally. A screen is for the hour you want to sit and watch the fire, not for heating the house.

So buy one if you want the ambiance and you understand the trade. Do not buy one expecting it to improve anything about how the stove heats. And read the open-door section of your own stove's manual before you use it — the conditions for open-door operation are set there, not by us.

The fitment chart

Find your stove in the left column. Door openings come from the manufacturer's installation manual for each appliance, so they are the figure to measure against if your model is not listed.

Three things people get wrong

Inserts and freestanding stoves are not always the same. The Escape 1500 and the Escape 1500-I share the same screen, but the insert's opening is 3/4" taller. That does not change the part you need here — but it is a good reminder to check the insert row rather than assuming.

The HT-3000 is not the same as the Escape 2100. Both take the AC01281, and both are 19" wide, but the HT-3000 opening is 10 5/8" tall against the Escape 2100's 9 7/8". Same screen, noticeably different opening.

Your Osburn, Enerzone or Century stove takes a Drolet part number. This surprises people, but those are all SBI brands built on the same chassis. If you own an Osburn 2000, the correct factory screen is the AC01315 — the same one an Escape 1800 owner buys. We sell the parts for all three brands, and we now sell six Century appliances too: the FW2900 (AC01315), FW2800 (AC01299) and S250 (AC01420) stoves and the CW2100 (AC01213), CW2800 (AC01299) and CW2900 (AC01315) inserts. Osburn and Enerzone appliances we do not sell.

Rigid firescreen vs firescreen door

Two formats, same mesh, same fitment logic.

Rigid firescreen Firescreen door
How it mounts Flat panel with handles, sits in the door opening Hinged, stays mounted on the appliance
Reloading the fire Lift the whole screen out first Swing it open, add a log, swing it back
Where to put it down Needs somewhere non-combustible to rest Never leaves the stove
Fits Freestanding stoves — openings around 12" to 19" wide Inserts and zero-clearance fireplaces — openings up to 25 3/8" wide
Typical price $119–$177 $142–$330

The practical difference is the hot panel. A rigid screen has to go somewhere when you reload, and it will be hot. If you plan to sit with the fire open for a whole evening and feed it a few times, the door version earns its extra cost quickly. For a stove you open twice a winter, the rigid screen is the sensible buy.

Note the width difference in that table — it is not a preference, it is a constraint. The hinged doors are built for the wide openings of zero-clearance fireplaces and inserts, and will not fit a freestanding stove. Rigid screens are the reverse.

Replacing a screen on a discontinued stove

Two part numbers cover a generation of SBI stoves that are no longer built. If your stove came with a screen and it has warped, lost a clip or gone missing, these are the correct factory replacements — the appliances are retired, but the parts are not.

Discontinued stove Replacement screen Price
Drolet Pyropak, Rocket, Spark · Century S244, S245E · Osburn 900 · Enerzone Solution 1.3 AC01318 $135
Drolet Eldorado, Savannah · Century FW2600 · Enerzone Solution 1.6 · Flame XVR-II SE AC01342 $177

Model names were reused across generations at SBI, so check the appliance code on the label at the back of your stove rather than going by the name alone — the product pages list every code each screen covers. If you are weighing a repair against a replacement, the current stoves in these size classes are the Drolet Spark II, Columbia II and Escape 1500.

If your stove is not in the chart

Measure the door opening — the clear opening the fire shows through, not the outside of the door frame. Width first, then height, in inches.

  1. Open the stove door fully and measure across the widest point of the opening.
  2. Measure the height at the centre, from the bottom lip to the top of the opening.
  3. Match both figures to the chart above. Width is the number that has to match closely; a small variance in height is normal across models sharing a screen — the Blue Ridge 300L, for instance, is 1/8" narrower than the 300P and takes the same part.

One caveat worth knowing: SBI does not publish dimensions for the screens themselves anywhere — only for the appliance openings. So the opening is the only figure you can compare against, and any retailer quoting you a screen's own measurements is not reading it off a manual.

If you measure and still are not sure, email info@stovesource.com or text 1-888-866-8206 with your model number and we will check it against the manufacturer parts list before you order. That is a faster route than a return.

Fire screen FAQs

Will a fire screen reduce my stove's heat output?

Yes, substantially. Running with the door open bypasses the sealed, air-controlled combustion the stove was designed and certified around. Expect an open fireplace's performance, not a wood stove's.

Can I leave the screen in overnight?

No. Open-door operation is supervised use only. Close the door before you leave the room or go to bed — that is also when the stove does its actual heating, on a long slow burn.

Do fire screens fit wood inserts?

Several do. The Escape 1500-I, Escape 1800-I and the Blue Ridge 150-I, 300-I and 500-I and the Century CW2100, CW2800 and CW2900 all have a matching screen. Insert openings sometimes differ slightly from the freestanding version of the same model, so use the insert's own row.

Is a fire screen the same as a spark guard?

For a wood stove, yes — the terms are used interchangeably for the mesh panel that fits the door opening. It is not the same as the free-standing decorative mesh panel sold for open masonry fireplaces, which does not fit a stove.

My stove came with a screen. Do I need this one?

Most Drolet and Englander stoves do not include one — the firescreen is an optional accessory on nearly every model. If yours came with one and it is damaged, the chart above gives you the correct replacement part number.

Can I still get a screen for a stove that is no longer made?

Often yes. SBI keeps firescreen stock for several retired generations — see the replacement table above for the Pyropak, Rocket, Spark, Eldorado, Savannah and their Century, Osburn, Enerzone and Flame equivalents.

Do you charge sales tax on fire screens?

No. StoveSource charges no sales tax in any state, and orders over $300 ship free to the lower 48.
