Lopi vs Drolet & ComfortBilt: Dealer-Only Premium vs Direct Value

Lopi (built by Travis Industries near Seattle) is one of the most respected names in American hearth — made in the USA since 1979, sold through a tight dealer network with strict territories, and priced accordingly. The Endeavor has been their best-selling wood stove since 1984, and the current "NexGen-Hybrid" generation is genuinely clever engineering.

It's also a brand you literally cannot mail-order: Travis dealers can't ship outside their service territory, so every Lopi purchase runs through a showroom quote that typically lands well north of $3,000 for the stove alone. Here's how the lineup compares against what we sell — Drolet on the wood side, ComfortBilt on the pellet side — with the trade-offs stated straight.

Lopi vs Drolet on price

Lopi does not publish prices, and most dealers list the stoves as call for pricing. The few that post a number list the Endeavor NexGen-Hybrid at $3,951 to $4,281, stove only. For every Lopi stove, insert and pellet model, see Lopi wood stove prices 2026. The bigger number is the installed one: venting, a hearth pad and labor commonly add $1,000–$2,500 or more, so ask any dealer for the installed price including venting. Our wood stove installation cost guide breaks those line items down.

For comparison, our prices are on the page with No Sales Tax in any state: the 2,100 sq ft Drolet Escape 1800 is $1,549 and the 2,700 sq ft Drolet HT-3000 is $1,899 — both under half of a published Endeavor price.

The Lopi lineup, decoded

As of August 2026, Lopi's wood range runs Answer (small), Endeavor and Evergreen (medium), and Liberty and Rockport (large) — all "NexGen-Hybrid" models. On pellets it's the AGP and the Deerfield II. Two things worth understanding before you visit a dealer:

  • "Hybrid" means there's a catalyst inside. NexGen-Hybrid stoves pair secondary combustion with a catalytic combustor. That's how they post very clean emissions numbers — and it means a consumable component that degrades with use and eventually gets replaced at your cost. Check Lopi's documentation for lifespan and pricing. (Blaze King and Jøtul's V3 stoves play the same game — we covered it in the Blaze King comparison.)
  • Some specs are genuinely impressive. Per Lopi dealer listings, the Endeavor runs 1.9 g/h with 18" log capacity and can sit as close as 4¼" to a rear combustible wall — an unusually tight clearance. The optional GreenStart push-button ignition is a genuinely nice touch nobody else in the value segment offers. Credit where due.

Lopi Endeavor vs Drolet Escape 1800

Drolet Escape 1800 wood stove

The medium-stove matchup. The Escape 1800 ($1,549) covers up to 2,100 sq ft at 75,000 BTU/h and 77% overall efficiency, takes 20" logs (two inches more than the Endeavor), runs 8-hour burns, and its factory side heat shields already let it tuck closer to walls than most stoves its size — with a certified wall shield available if you need to go tighter. The Endeavor answers with the hybrid firebox, the 4¼" rear clearance, and GreenStart — at a dealer-quoted price where the difference buys the Escape 1800's entire chimney system. No catalyst in the Drolet, ever.

Shipping now: the Englander Blue Ridge 300L (No confirmed date) is the closest in-stock alternative to the Escape 1800, with the same 500–2,100 sq ft rating, 75,000 BTU/h output and 20" logs.

Shipping now: the Englander Blue Ridge 300P (Ships in 5–9 weeks), the pedestal version of the Blue Ridge 300L, matches the Escape 1800 on 500–2,100 sq ft, 75,000 BTU/h and 20" logs.

Lopi Liberty vs Drolet HT-3000

Drolet HT-3000 wood stove

Lopi's Liberty is their big whole-home heater. The HT-3000 ($1,899) plays the same position: up to 2,700 sq ft, 110,000 BTU/h maximum output, a 3.5 cu ft loading volume that swallows 22" logs across width or depth, 10-hour burns, and a limited lifetime warranty on the combustion chamber. Same story as the Endeavor matchup, bigger numbers: the Lopi is a fine stove behind a dealer quote; the Drolet does the job for a fraction and arrives at your driveway this week.

Lopi pellet stoves: the AGP, AGP insert and Deerfield II

Lopi's current pellet line is three models: the steel AGP stove, the AGP insert and the cast iron Deerfield II. All three use Lopi's horizontal rotary disc feed, which Lopi says burns all grades of pellets. Here's what Lopi publishes for each:

Lopi model Type Heats up to Max output Hopper Burn time Emissions Published price
AGP stove Freestanding, steel 2,000 sq ft 41,000 BTU/h 80 lb up to 57 hrs 1.8 g/h $5,431 list at one dealer ($3,258.60 on sale)
AGP insert Fireplace insert 2,000 sq ft 41,000 BTU/h 40–70 lb up to 50 hrs 0.98 g/h Quote only
Deerfield II Freestanding, cast iron 2,500 sq ft about 50,000 BTU/h (Lopi's pages differ) not published on the product page up to 35 hrs 1.5 g/h Quote only

From Lopi's product pages, October 2026. Lopi lists the AGP's efficiency (up to 75.6% HHV on the stove, up to 71% on the insert) as EPA default values rather than tested figures, so we've left efficiency out of the comparison.

Lopi pellet stoves are sold through Travis dealers, and most show "call for price." The one published AGP price we found was $5,431 list, discounted to $3,258.60 at a single New Mexico dealer.

Lopi AGP vs ComfortBilt

ComfortBilt HP22N pellet stove with 80 lb hopper, front view
Lopi AGP ComfortBilt HP22N ComfortBilt Alpine HP42
Price $3,259–$5,431 (dealer) $2,599 $1,499
Heats up to 2,000 sq ft 2,800 sq ft 2,500 sq ft
Max output 41,000 BTU/h 40,689 BTU/h 42,000 BTU/h
Hopper / burn time 80 lb, up to 57 hrs 80 lb, up to 32 hrs 120 lb, up to 80 hrs
Efficiency EPA default value 80.5% HHV, EPA certified EPA certified
Emissions 1.8 g/h 1.01 g/h —
Controls Lopi controls Temp, 7-day, thermostat, remote Temp, weekly, thermostat, remote

The AGP's real advantage is its feed system. If your local pellet supply is inconsistent, a stove designed to burn any grade is worth something, and Lopi's dealer service comes with it. On the published numbers, though, the HP22N matches the AGP's 80 lb hopper and output for less money, with a tested 80.5% efficiency and lower emissions; Lopi claims a longer burn on low. The Alpine HP42 holds 120 lb, puts out the same heat and costs less than half the AGP's list price. Our thermostat and Wi-Fi guide covers the ComfortBilt controls.

Lopi AGP insert vs ComfortBilt HP22i

ComfortBilt HP22i pellet stove fireplace insert

If you're putting a pellet stove into a fireplace, the AGP insert's 0.98 g/h emissions are genuinely low, and its 40–70 lb hopper runs up to 50 hours. The ComfortBilt HP22i ($2,799) is rated for up to 2,800 sq ft against the AGP insert's 2,000, with a 47 lb hopper and the same ComfortBilt controls. Our pellet insert comparison sets it against Harman, Quadra-Fire and Enviro too.

Lopi Deerfield II vs ComfortBilt HP61

The Deerfield II is the cast iron option, rated for 2,500 sq ft with a glass loading door. For a bigger house on a smaller budget, the ComfortBilt HP61 ($2,299) is rated for up to 3,000 sq ft at 80.1% EPA-certified efficiency and 1.15 g/h. If the longest burn is the goal, the Drolet ECO-65R runs up to 105 hours from a 125 lb hopper at 0.77 g/h (Ships in 1–3 days).
