Osburn Wood Stoves 2026: Models, Prices, Reviews & the Same-Factory Drolet Alternatives

Osburn wood stoves have a loyal following, and for good reason: they're well-built Canadian stoves with premium trim, standard ash pans, and included blowers on the larger models. But here's the thing most shoppers comparing Osburn models don't know: Osburn is built by Stove Builder International (SBI) — the same Quebec manufacturer that makes Drolet. Same factory, same EPA 2020 combustion engineering, same limited lifetime warranty. Osburn is SBI's step-up brand; Drolet is the value brand built on the same platforms.

In this guide we walk the 2026 Osburn wood stove lineup with manufacturer-verified specs, then show the Drolet sibling for each core model — including where the Osburn genuinely differs, and what the price gap actually buys you. The complete Drolet range is ranked by home size in our best Drolet wood stoves guide.

Who Makes Osburn?

Osburn is manufactured by SBI (Stove Builder International) of Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures, Quebec, alongside Drolet, Englander, Enerzone, Century Heating, Valcourt, and PSG. SBI positions Osburn as its refined mid-premium line: contemporary styling options, standard ash pans on most models, and blowers included on the 2000 and 3500. Drolet shares the same core fireboxes and combustion systems with simpler trim — which is exactly why the spec sheets line up so closely. Our guide to who makes Drolet, Osburn, Englander and Century maps the whole family.

The 2026 Osburn Wood Stove Lineup

Osburn's current freestanding wood stove range (per osburn-mfg.com, August 2026):

Model Heating Area Max Output
Osburn 1700 500–1,800 ft² 65,000 BTU/h
Osburn 2000 (with blower) 500–2,100 ft² 75,000 BTU/h
Osburn Inspire 2000 500–2,100 ft² 75,000 BTU/h
Osburn Matrix (with blower) 500–2,100 ft² 75,000 BTU/h
Osburn 3500 (with blower) 1,000–2,700 ft² 110,000 BTU/h

Notice the pattern: three output classes — 65,000 / 75,000 / 110,000 BTU/h. Those are the same three platforms the Drolet wood stoves we carry are built on. Here's each pairing in detail.

Osburn 1700 vs. Drolet Escape 1500

Drolet Escape 1500 wood stove — SBI-built sibling of the Osburn 1700
Spec Osburn 1700 Drolet Escape 1500
Heating area 500–1,800 ft² 500–1,800 ft²
Max heat output 65,000 BTU/h 65,000 BTU/h
Firebox volume 1.9 ft³ 1.9 ft³
Max log length 18" 18"
Burn time Up to 7 hours Up to 7 hours
Ash pan Standard Not included
Warranty Limited lifetime Limited lifetime
Typical online price $2,349 $1,349, shipped

Same firebox, same output, same burn time, same log length, same warranty. What the extra $1,000 buys on the Osburn: the built-in ash pan, side heat-shield panels that trim clearances, and lower published emissions (~1.3 g/h vs. the Escape 1500's 2.4 g/h). Those are real differences — and if a standard ash pan matters to you, the Osburn earns part of its premium. But it's roughly a 74% price premium for the same heating envelope from the same factory. The Drolet Escape 1500 puts the identical 65,000 BTU platform in your home for $1,349, shipped free with no sales tax.

Shipping now: the Englander Blue Ridge 300L (No confirmed date) is the closest in-stock alternative to the Escape 1500, rated 500–2,100 sq ft on 20" logs, a step up from the Escape 1500's 1,800 sq ft class.

Shipping now: the Englander Blue Ridge 300P (Ships in 5–9 weeks), the pedestal version of the Blue Ridge 300L, covers the same 500–2,100 sq ft on 20" logs.

Osburn 2000 vs. Drolet Escape 1800

Drolet Escape 1800 wood stove — SBI-built sibling of the Osburn 2000

The Osburn 2000, Inspire 2000, and Matrix all sit on SBI's 75,000 BTU/h, 500–2,100 ft² platform — the same envelope as the Drolet Escape 1800: 2.4 ft³ firebox, 20" logs, up to 8-hour burns, 2.3 g/h emissions, limited lifetime warranty, $1,549 shipped. The Osburn variants add included blowers and three distinct style directions (traditional, glass-front Inspire, contemporary Matrix); the Escape 1800 offers its blower as an add-on and keeps the price roughly $1,000–$1,500 below typical Osburn 2000-family retail. If you're heating 1,000–2,000 ft² and care more about heat than trim, this is the value play in the entire SBI catalog.

Osburn 3500 vs. Drolet HT-3000

Drolet HT-3000 extra-large wood stove — SBI-built sibling of the Osburn 3500

Both are SBI's extra-large platform: 110,000 BTU/h, 1,000–2,700 ft², 3.5 ft³ firebox, 22" logs. The Osburn 3500 includes its blower and publishes up to 77% efficiency; the Drolet HT-3000 matches the firebox and output with up to 10-hour burn times and 1.6 g/h EPA-certified emissions at $1,899 shipped — typically well over $1,000 less than the 3500's online retail, with the blower available as an add-on.

The parts lists confirm the pairings

The spec-sheet comparisons above are one kind of evidence. Here is a harder one: SBI publishes a replacement parts list for every appliance it builds, and the same part numbers appear under both badges.

The rigid firescreen AC01299 is listed for the Osburn 1700 and the Drolet Escape 1500. AC01315 is listed for the Osburn 2000 and Matrix and the Drolet Escape 1800. AC01281 is listed for the Osburn 3500 and the Drolet HT-3000. A stamped steel screen only fits one firebox opening, so a shared part number is not marketing language — it is the same firebox.

Already own an Osburn? We stock the parts

Osburn sells through a dealer network, which is set up to move appliances rather than to make replacement parts easy to find. If your dealer has closed, relocated, or wants you to drive an hour for a firescreen, this section is for you.

We are not an Osburn appliance dealer and we do not sell Osburn stoves. We do stock the factory SBI parts that fit them, at the same prices as the Drolet-badged equivalents, with No Sales Tax in any state.

Your Osburn Parts we carry
950 / 950 N AC01420 firescreen · AC01421 fresh air intake · AC02023 blower
1700 AC01299 firescreen · AC01291 fresh air intake · AC01000 blower
2000 AC01315 firescreen · AC01211 fresh air intake · AC02055 thermodisc
Inspire 2000 AC03095 130 CFM blower · AC02055 thermodisc
Matrix AC01315 firescreen · AC01323 projection kit
Matrix 2700 AC01263 projection kit
3500 AC01281 firescreen · AC01336 fresh air intake · AC02055 thermodisc
Inspire 2000-I and other inserts AC01298 fresh air intake · AC01020 narrow faceplate
Gusto Cookstove AC01211 fresh air intake · AC01000 blower

One warning worth reading twice: a shared firebox does not mean every part interchanges. Blowers in particular are model-specific. The Osburn 950 sits in the same firebox class as the Drolet Escape 1200, but it takes the AC02023 blower, not the Drolet AC02050 — different mounting housing. The same goes for fresh air intake kits, where the base type (legs, pedestal or insert) decides the kit, not the firebox.

Every fitment above comes from SBI's own published parts lists. If your model or serial range is not listed, send us the model number and we will check it against the manufacturer data before you order rather than guessing.

Osburn Inserts

Osburn's wood insert range (1700-I, 2000-I, Inspire 2000-I, Matrix-I, 3500-I) follows the same three platforms. The Drolet equivalents we carry are the Escape 1500-I (65,000 BTU/h, up to 1,800 ft², $1,729) and Escape 1800-I (75,000 BTU/h, up to 2,100 ft², $1,799). Need an insert sooner? The Carolina Model 21 NC works as a fireplace insert and is in stock: $2,248 with its trim kit, heats 800–1,800 sq ft, made in the USA (Ships in 1–3 days). Your fireplace opening must be at least 23¼″ wide, 21″ high and 15″ deep.

So Which Should You Buy?

Buy the Osburn if the included blower, standard ash pan, or a specific style (especially the Matrix's contemporary look) is worth a four-figure premium to you — they're genuinely nice stoves and we won't pretend otherwise. Do factor in where you will get parts from in year eight.

Buy the Drolet sibling if you want the same SBI firebox, the same heat, and the same limited lifetime warranty for $1,000+ less. Every Drolet here ships free with No Sales Tax in any state, shows its live ship date on its product page (the HT-3000 is open for order now: Ships Nov 2), and uses the same 6" chimney systems — so your venting and installation costs are identical either way.

Bottom Line

Osburn and Drolet aren't competitors — they're siblings with different trim levels. If you've been pricing an Osburn 1700, 2000, or 3500, check the same-platform Drolet before you commit: Escape 1500, Escape 1800, and HT-3000. Same factory. Same warranty. Same heat. About a thousand dollars less.

And if you already own the Osburn, the parts table above covers what we stock for it.

All specifications are taken from the manufacturers' published pages (osburn-mfg.com, osburnwoodstoves.com, and drolet.ca) as of August 2026. Parts fitment is taken from SBI's published replacement parts lists as of September 2026. The Osburn 1700 price shown is the manufacturer-affiliated online retailer's listed price as of August 2026 and may change. Specifications on the certification label affixed to an appliance always override published figures — confirm clearances and installation requirements in the owner's manual for your specific unit.
