Where Ashley wins: the hopper, and it isn't close. 170 lbs means loading twice a week instead of daily in shoulder season. The -W's app control is also a real convenience if you want remote start from your phone. Where the HP22 wins: peak heat output for cold snaps, and — the thing we weight most — published EPA test data. ComfortBilt states its certified efficiency (80.5% HHV) and emissions (1.01 g/h) as exact figures; Ashley's pages say "exceeds 75%" without a published emissions number. When two stoves cost similar money, the one that shows you its test results is easier to trust and easier to size — and ComfortBilt's HP-series pellet stoves publish both numbers.
A note if you see tax-credit claims while shopping: some Ashley retail listings still advertise the 30% federal biomass credit. That credit (IRC §25C) expired December 31, 2025 — no pellet stove purchased in 2026 qualifies for it, regardless of brand.
