Overview
🎁 INCLUDED FREE: ComfortBilt Vent Cleaning Kit — for the seasonal cleaning every pellet stove needs.
The ComfortBilt Alpine HP41 pellet stove is the mid-size model in the Alpine line: 18.5" wide, 23" deep and 34.5" tall. It heats up to 2,200 sq ft and delivers 12,744 to 32,155 BTU/h in EPA testing. The 52 lb hopper (40 lb usable) runs up to about 20 hours per fill. It is EPA certified at 1.59 g/h with 80.3% efficiency (HHV). Automatic ignition, a room blower, a programmable thermostat and a remote are included. It vents through 3" pellet pipe with a 2" fresh-air intake, is approved for mobile homes and comes in black.
✔ Required for Your Alpine HP41 Installation
Per the Alpine HP41 owner's manual — every pellet stove install needs these:
- ☑ 3" Type-L Pellet Vent Kit — complete piping for a standard through-wall installation (includes the required appliance adapter).
- ☑ Hearth Pad — non-combustible (Type 1 ember protection) floor protection reaching at least 6" past the glass and 6" past both sides of the stove.
- ☑ Outside Air Kit — required for mobile homes; recommended for basements and tightly sealed homes. The stove has a 2" intake; the kit is sold separately.
Optional: extra pipe lengths & elbows for longer runs · clean-out tee for vertical installs.
Who the Alpine HP41 is for
The HP41 is the balanced pick when the compact HP40 is too small and you don't need the HP42's giant hopper:
- Smaller homes, cabins, finished basements and open living areas up to about 2,200 sq ft.
- Owners who want to fill the hopper about once a day.
- Rooms with space to the sides. The HP41 needs 24" from a side wall, much more than the other Alpine models, so plan the location before you order.
Heating capacity depends on climate, insulation and layout. Like every pellet stove it needs electricity, so it stops during a power outage.
Hopper and burn time
The hopper holds 52 lb, of which about 40 lb is usable, roughly one standard bag per fill. ComfortBilt rates that at up to about 20 hours on low; higher settings burn through it faster. Clean the burn pot regularly and empty the ash pan, which lifts out for cleaning.
Heat output and efficiency
EPA testing puts the HP41 at 12,744 to 32,155 BTU/h, with 80.3% efficiency (HHV) and 1.59 g/h particulate emissions. In Temp mode the stove runs at full output until the room reaches your set temperature, then drops to its lowest level and idles. Turn on ECO and it shuts off at the set temperature and relights when the room cools instead. ComfortBilt warns that ECO adds igniter wear, so save it for mild days.
Controls
Four modes cover most routines: Manual (five heat levels), Temp (61°F to 82°F), Weekly (up to four on/off periods for each day) and Thstat for a wired wall thermostat. Switching modes while the stove is burning can trigger a shutdown and a 30-minute cool-down, so pick your mode before lighting. The included remote handles everyday changes.
Alpine HP41 vs. HP40 vs. HP42
The three Alpine models share the same controls and venting; they differ in size, hopper and output.

Pick the HP40 for a small room or tight corner, or the HP42 if you'd rather fill the hopper a couple of times a week and need more output. The HP41 sits in the middle on price and heat.
Venting and installation
Use 3" or 4" Type L or PL pellet vent, starting with a 3" appliance adapter on the exhaust. The ComfortBilt 3" pellet vent kit covers a standard through-wall install. The 3" system allows up to 15 equivalent vent length (EVL) and 4" up to 25. Each 90° elbow or tee counts 5, and two elbows joined back to back add 2 more. Use 4" pipe above 5,000 ft or for runs with more than one tee or more than 180° of elbows. Keep horizontal runs to 4 ft with a ¼" rise per foot, and add at least 3 ft of vertical pipe on through-wall installs. See our pellet stove venting guide.
Outside air through the 2" intake is required in mobile homes and recommended for basements and tight houses; the DuraVent 3" wall thimble air intake kit provides it. In a mobile home the stove must also be permanently attached to the floor and grounded to the chassis, and it can't go in a sleeping room.
Clearances and floor protection
The HP41 needs 2" from the back wall, 10" at the rear corners in a corner install and 24" from a side wall. Unless it sits on a non-combustible floor or masonry hearth, it also needs a non-combustible floor protector extending 6" in front of the glass and 6" on each side, plus 2" beneath the flue pipe on horizontal installs. At 18.5" wide, that means a pad at least 30.5" wide. Shop our hearth pads.
