The Drolet Bistro wood cookstove (model DB04815) heats your home and cooks your meals from the same fire. It has a stainless steel oven with a glass door and built-in thermometer, a cast iron cooking surface on top, and a firebox certified as a full residential wood heater. It heats 500 to 2,100 sq ft with a maximum heat output of 75,000 BTU/h, takes logs up to 20" and is rated for burn times up to 8 hours. It is EPA 2020 certified at 2.0 g/h emissions, with an average overall efficiency of 76% (HHV) and an optimum overall efficiency of 83%. Cast iron legs with ash drawer, 6" top flue outlet, optional blower up to 100 CFM. Approved for mobile homes.
Who the Bistro is for
- Cabins, farmhouses and off-grid homes where one appliance must heat the house and cook dinner, power or no power.
- Homes of about 500 to 2,100 sq ft that want a primary wood heater, not just a kitchen range.
- Cooks who want a real oven: bread, roasts and casseroles, not just a hot plate.
Because the Bistro is EPA certified as a residential wood heater, it can serve as your home's main heater, not just a cooking appliance. Many cookstoves, including the Drolet Chic-Choc, are cooking appliances first and are not certified wood heaters.
Cooking on the Bistro: oven and cooktop
The stainless steel oven measures about 18" wide, 15 1/2" deep and 7 7/8" high (1.26 cu ft) and comes with a cooking grid that sits at the middle or bottom position. The oven door has a glass window and a thermometer that reads 150°F to 750°F. Hot gases from the firebox split and travel around both sides of the oven before reaching the cooktop and chimney, so the oven heats evenly for a wood range; Drolet notes about 50°F between the coolest spot (front left) and hottest (rear right), so turn dishes halfway through.
The cast iron top gives intense heat for pots, pans and kettles. Drolet recommends cooking in pans rather than directly on the top, since the paint is not food grade, and working from the side of the stove to stay out of the radiant heat from the glass. You control both oven and cooktop temperature with the single air control and by opening or closing the oven door. Expect a few practice meals to learn how load size and timing affect the oven.
Firebox, burn time and heat output
The firebox has an overall volume of 2.26 cu ft (1.94 cu ft EPA loading volume) and measures about 21" wide, 11 7/8" high and 17 1/4" deep. Logs load east-west up to 20" long; 16" splits load easiest. The door opening is 17 1/2" x 9", with ceramic glass. Drolet rates the Bistro at up to 75,000 BTU/h with a dense load of dry cordwood, and at 14,300 to 47,300 BTU/h from low to high burn under EPA test conditions. The maximum burn time is up to 8 hours; treat it as a best case. Overall the cookstove measures 27" wide, 32 1/4" deep and 42" high and ships at about 575 lb.

Choose the Bistro if it will also be your main heater. Choose the Chic-Choc if you want a full-size kitchen range with a much bigger oven.
Blower option
No blower is included or required. On units from serial number 700 and up, you can add the Drolet 100 CFM variable-speed blower (AC02050) on the back to move more warm air into the room, plus the Quick Connect Thermodisc (AC02055) for automatic on/off. Both are listed in the Bistro parts list.
Venting and installation
The Bistro has a 6" top flue outlet and needs a UL 103 HT (2,100°F) factory-built chimney or a lined masonry chimney, at least 12 ft tall. See our wood stove chimney and stovepipe guide, our 6" stove pipe kits, or a 6" chimney liner kit. In the USA it needs 15" to the side walls with either pipe type; double-wall connector pipe cuts the rear clearance from 15" to 6" and the corner clearance from 7 1/2" to 5". With double-wall pipe and the certified modular wall heat shield (AC02765), the manual allows 2 1/2". The Bistro is not approved for alcove installation. For a mobile home, use double-wall pipe and the 5" fresh air intake kit (AC01211) with insulated intake duct.
Floor protection
Unless the cookstove sits on a non-combustible floor such as concrete, it needs a continuous non-combustible ember pad; no R-value is required. In the USA, the pad extends 16" in front of the door opening and 8" to each side. The 46 3/4" x 54" black steel hearth pad covers the Bistro plus those extensions; see all hearth pads.

Ships via LTL (Less Than Truckload) freight – carriers include XPO Logistics, Estes Express, ABF Freight, Old Dominion, and FedEx Freight. Transit time is typically 3–10 business days from ship date. The carrier will call to schedule a delivery appointment.
Remote addresses. Some rural or hard-to-access addresses carry a carrier freight surcharge. If yours does, we'll email you the exact amount for approval before your order is processed — or you can cancel for a full refund.
Curbside delivery only. The driver will lower your order to the curb or end of your driveway via liftgate. This does not include bringing the item inside, carrying up stairs, or crossing uneven terrain.
Have an appliance dolly and an extra person available on delivery day. Need inside or threshold delivery? Contact us before ordering.
Inspect before signing. Before signing the Bill of Lading (BOL), check for any visible packaging damage. Write "DAMAGED" or "Subject to inspection" on the BOL if anything looks off.
Contact us within 5 business days of delivery. Open and fully inspect your item within 48 hours.
Returns. Unused, uninstalled units in original packaging can be returned within 30 days. Appliance returns are subject to a $300 return freight charge plus a 15% restocking fee. Units that have been fired or installed cannot be returned. Accessories and parts carry a 15% restocking fee.
