Englander pellet stove error codes

The codes mean different things on different models, so check which column matches your stove. These come from Englander's owner's manuals.

Code 25-PDVC, 25-PDV 25-CBPAH, 25-EP What to check
E-1 Vacuum loss Not used Exhaust blower running, vacuum hose not cracked, flue not blocked
E-2 Fail to start Failure to light Clean the burn pot, then check the igniter
E-3 Over temperature limit Over-firing Room blower, partly blocked flue, pellet quality
E-4 Not listed Fire went out Empty hopper or lid left open, then the auger motor or exhaust blower

E-2 that changes to E-1 (25-PDVC, 25-PDV): the vacuum switch is not closing. The usual causes, in order, are a cracked vacuum hose, a clogged flue or dirty exhaust blower, carbon in the vacuum port, a loose wire at the switch, or a failed exhaust blower. The switch itself is rarely the fault. The 25-CBPAH also shows FS (failed start, usually the igniter) and OT (over temperature, same causes as E-3). The 10-CPM uses E-2 for fail to start and E-3 for overfired.

Step-by-step fixes for every code and symptom are in our Englander pellet stove troubleshooting guide. Every igniter by brand and model is in our pellet stove igniter chart. See also our Englander igniter and auger motor guide and our pellet stove troubleshooting guide.

Which control board do you need?

Englander boards are programmed with a profile for each stove model, and the wrong profile will not run your stove correctly. Our Englander control board guide matches every model to its board. The two most common: the 25-PDVC takes the Profile 8 board (PU-CB19), and the 25-CBPAH takes the Profile 3 board (PU-CB19). Older 25-PDVC stoves below serial number 150,000 take the Profile D board (PU-CB04).
