Buck Stove Prices 2026: Model 21, 74, 81 and 91, Plus the Same Stoves for Less

Buck Stove has built wood stoves in Spruce Pine, North Carolina since 1975, and most of its dealers either quote by phone or list a price with the legs, pedestal or trim kit sold separately. Below are the published dealer prices for the Model 21, 74, 81 and 91 as of October 2026, what each price actually includes, and one thing most buyers don't know: three of those stoves are also sold as Carolina models, built in the same Buck factory, and we sell them with No Sales Tax in any state and the price on the page.

Buck Stove prices, 2026

Published prices from online Buck dealers in October 2026, stove only. Buck dealers set their own prices, so the same model can vary by several hundred dollars, and several of these were marked out of stock or special order.

Buck model Heats Firebox Combustion Dealer price, stove only
Model 21 NC (FP 21) 800–1,800 sq ft 1.6 cu ft Non-catalytic $2,191–$2,410; legs, pedestal and trim kit extra
Model 74 NC (FP 74) 1,500–2,600 sq ft 2.15 cu ft Non-catalytic $2,829 with blower; $3,663 at another dealer (list $4,950)
Model 81 (FP 81) 1,600–2,700 sq ft — Non-catalytic $3,211 (list $4,014)
Model 91 (FP 91) 1,800–3,200 sq ft 4.4 cu ft Catalytic $4,451

Two things to check on any Buck quote. First, what is included: the Model 21 is usually priced without legs, so a freestanding install adds legs or a pedestal on top. Second, the flue: the 21, 74 and 81 use a 6" flue, but the Model 91 needs an 8" flue, which costs noticeably more and won't reuse an existing 6" chimney.

Carolina stoves: the same Buck stoves, priced on the page

Carolina Model 21 NC freestanding wood stove, the Buck Stove Model 21, on Queen Anne legs, front view

The Carolina Model 21 NC, 74 NC and 81 are built by New Buck Corporation in Spruce Pine, the same company and factory that builds Buck Stove. They share the firebox, ratings and EPA certification of the Buck model with the same number. Each one installs either freestanding on Queen Anne legs or as a fireplace insert with a trim kit, the same dual-purpose design Buck is known for, and you choose which when you order.

Buck model Buck dealer price Carolina version Our price Shipping
Model 21 NC $2,191–$2,410, legs extra Carolina Model 21 NC $2,158, legs or trim kit included Ships in 1–3 days
Model 74 NC $2,829–$3,663 Carolina Model 74 NC $2,158, legs or trim kit included No confirmed date
Model 81 $3,211 Carolina Model 81 $2,458, legs or trim kit included No confirmed date

A fair comparison point on the Model 74: the $2,829 Buck price above includes a blower, and the Carolina 74 NC's blower is sold separately, so check what each listing includes before you compare. On the Model 21, the Carolina price includes the legs or trim kit that most Buck dealers charge extra for.

Carolina Model 21 NC. The 21 NC heats 800–1,800 sq ft, is EPA 2020 certified at 1.7 g/h with 70.5% efficiency (HHV), takes logs up to 18" side to side, and has an optional 185 CFM blower. It is in stock and ships now.

Carolina Model 74 NC. The 74 NC steps up to 1,500–2,600 sq ft and up to 52,400 BTU/h, at 1.8 g/h and 73% efficiency, with logs up to 22".

Carolina Model 81. The Model 81 covers 1,600–2,700 sq ft at up to 59,500 BTU/h, with a very clean 1.1 g/h burn and logs up to 20".

Buck Model 91: the catalytic flagship

The Model 91 is the one Buck stove without a Carolina twin. It is catalytic, rated up to 3,200 sq ft from a 4.4 cu ft firebox, takes 22" logs, weighs 620 lb and lists at $4,451 at several dealers. The catalyst gives it long, even burns, and it is a wear part you replace every few years; our catalytic vs non-catalytic guide covers what that costs.

Drolet HT-3000 large wood stove on pedestal, side view, heats up to 2,700 square feet

If you are heating up to about 2,700 sq ft, the Drolet HT-3000 ($1,899, Ships Nov 2) covers that at 110,000 BTU/h from a 3.5 cu ft firebox with 22" logs, uses a standard 6" flue and has no combustor to replace, for less than half the Model 91's price. If you need the 91's full 3,200 sq ft and long catalytic burns, it is a good stove and worth pricing.

Shipping now: the Century FW2900 ($1,599, Ships in 1–3 days) heats 500–2,100 sq ft at up to 75,000 BTU/h on 20" logs.

Buck vent-free gas stoves

Buck also builds vent-free gas stoves, and we carry two of them: the Buck Model T-33 ($1,815, blower and legs included) and the Buck Townsend II ($1,899). Both put out up to 32,000 BTU/h with no chimney, run on natural gas or propane, and keep working in a power outage. Our ventless gas stove guide covers where vent-free is allowed.

What a Buck stove costs installed

Legs, pedestal or insert trim kit Often extra on Buck quotes; included with Carolina
Chimney, stovepipe or liner Depends on height and route; more for the 91's 8" flue
Hearth pad $189–$525
Installation labor $1,000–$2,500+

Ask any dealer for the installed price including venting. Our wood stove installation cost guide breaks down each line, and if the stove is going into a fireplace, the chimney liner guide covers the liner.
