Overview
CrownPrep by Saver Systems is a water-based acrylic conditioner you brush on a chimney crown before a repair coating. Many crowns are made with mortar instead of concrete, and that surface is sandy, porous and dusty. CrownPrep consolidates it so CrownCoat or CrownSeal adheres better and lasts longer. Buy from StoveSource and pay no sales tax in any state.
How to use it
Clean the crown with a wire brush and sweep off the dust. Brush on two liberal coats, wet on wet, over the whole crown. Wait 5 to 10 minutes until it tacks up, then apply the crown coating. There's no drying time, and you don't need to mist the crown with water first.
