Enerzone Solution 2.3 vs Drolet Escape 1800: The Same Stove for About $700 Less
If a dealer has quoted you on an Enerzone Solution 2.3, there is one thing worth knowing before you sign: the Drolet Escape 1800 is the same firebox from the same factory. Not a similar stove, not a competitor with comparable numbers — the same appliance with different trim and a different badge, built by Stove Builder International in Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures, Quebec.
The gap is roughly $700 before the Solution 2.3's dealer extras, and it widens from there.

Matching spec sheets happen between genuine competitors sometimes. What follows does not.
The parts catalogue is the proof
SBI publishes a replacement parts list for every appliance it builds. Pull up the Solution 2.3 and the Escape 1800 side by side and the same part numbers appear on both:

A stamped steel firescreen fits one firebox opening and one only. If AC01315 drops into both stoves, the openings are identical — because the stoves are.
So what does the extra money actually buy?
Something real, and it is worth being straight about it. The Solution 2.3 is the dealer-channel version of this firebox, and the dealer channel sells on appearance.
What you get for the premium: a choice of cast iron leg styles rather than the Escape 1800's pedestal, brushed nickel trim options, an integrated ash drawer in the leg assemblies, and a showroom where you can open the door before you buy. Plus a local shop that will quote the installation.
What you do not get: more heat, a bigger firebox, longer burns, a better warranty, or different steel. Those columns are identical because the appliance is.

The price gap is wider than the list prices suggest
Enerzone publishes list prices in Canadian dollars only. The Solution 2.3 lists at CAD $3,099, roughly $2,225 USD at August 2026 rates. The Drolet Escape 1800 is $1,549 shipped.
That is a $676 difference on paper. Three things widen it:
- Tariff surcharge. Enerzone's own site advises US buyers that a surcharge of up to 15% may apply.
- Dealer retail. List price is not what a dealer charges. The dealer sets final retail.
- Freight and duties, quoted separately.
Against that, the Escape 1800 ships free to your curb with No Sales Tax in any state. Installation is a separate cost either way — you can hire any local installer or chimney professional, and the clearances in the owner's manual are the same document either way.
What about the insert version?
Same story one step over. The Enerzone Solution 2.3-I is the insert on this platform; the Drolet Escape 1800-I is its online-brand twin at $1,799 — 75,000 BTU/h, up to 2,100 ft², 2.4 ft³ firebox, limited lifetime warranty. They share the AC01315 firescreen too.

When the Enerzone is still the right call
If you want to see the stove in person, want a specific cast iron leg style as the stove ships, or want one company to sell and install it and own the whole job, the dealer route delivers that and the premium buys it. We are not going to pretend a showroom has no value.
The thing to weigh against it is the back half of ownership. Dealer networks are built to move appliances, not to make parts easy to find in year eight. If that dealer closes or relocates, you are sourcing parts for a stove nobody nearby sells. The Escape 1800 has the same problem solved for you, because the parts are the ones we stock.

The Enerzone Solution 2.3 is a good stove.
