Overview
HeatShield PriorFire Formula 51 is an insulating, high-temperature refractory mortar developed for parging smoke chamber walls. It insulates, seals gaps and smooths the walls of the smoke chamber as required by NFPA and IRC codes. Buy from StoveSource and pay no sales tax in any state.
How it goes on
It's a dry powder you mix with water. Saver Systems says it can be parged, troweled or hand packed over any brick, block or stone surface exposed to high temperatures, such as smoke chambers, ash pits and vent connections. Read the installation instructions below before you start.

- Cure: let the finished repair stand for 24 hours with natural air flow, then condition it with heat as the instructions describe, and keep fires small for 5 more days
