Overview
A cast iron fireplace grate that lifts the logs off the fireplace floor so air can reach the fire from underneath. Fires light faster, burn hotter and smoke less, and the ash falls through the bars instead of smothering the bottom logs. The basket shape keeps logs from rolling forward out of the firebox.

Will it fit my fireplace?
Measure the firebox floor at the front opening and front to back. Leave a few inches of clear floor on each side and at the back of the grate so the fire sits in the middle of the firebox and the bars aren't pressed against the firebrick.
Not for wood stoves or fireplace inserts. A wood stove or insert burns its wood directly on the firebrick, and Drolet's insert manuals say not to raise the fire on a grate or andirons. A grate is for an open fireplace. If you're upgrading that fireplace to a real heat source, see our wood burning fireplace inserts.
More hearth gear: fireplace tool sets, heat-resistant fireplace gloves and the Drolet ash vacuum for clearing cold ash.
