Replace a warped or burnt-through heat shield to keep heat moving through the exchanger and protect the firebox.
The heat shield (baffle plate) sits above the fire, steering hot gases across the heat exchanger and shielding the internal components from direct flame. Over years of use it can sag, warp, crack or rust through, which cuts heat output and exposes parts above it. Each option is cut for one stove: HP21, HP61, HP41 and HP42 plates are a single piece, while the HP40 comes as a left and right two-piece set.
