What a corner hearth pad is

A corner hearth pad is angled at the back so it sits flush into the corner while still carrying the ember protection your stove's manual requires out to the front and sides.

Steel, modular and tile pads

We carry corner pads in 54" and 60" sizes for wood stoves and pellet stoves alike, and the difference between them is thermal protection rather than how they go together. The black steel pads are ember protection only, with no R-value; the modular systems are insulated with 1/2" Micore 300 for an R-value of 1.03, so they provide thermal protection as well as ember protection. Both ship as a four-piece assembly, the modular systems as separate interlocking panels.

The two ComfortBilt pads are for ComfortBilt freestanding stoves in corner installs, and both are non-combustible and corner-cut. The 40" pad is Type 2 ember protection in tile, offered in three finishes, and is the correct minimum size for the HP75C's wider 26½" body. The tile-and-slate pad is bonded with permanent thin-set mortar and comes in Mill Black and Natural Silver Slate. Both meet ComfortBilt's 6"-front and 6"-side floor-protection requirements for corner placements.

Getting the size right

Getting the size right. Measure your stove's footprint, then add the front, side and rear extensions specified in your appliance manual — the required clearance in front of the loading door is usually the largest number, and it is the one people miss. If your stove sits at an angle rather than fully into the corner, measure the diagonal your stove will occupy before choosing a size.

Ember protection and R-value
