Overview
A spray cleaner from SBI's maintenance range (part number AC03512) for the surfaces around a wood stove or fireplace: the hearth, the surround and the outside of the appliance, as well as outdoor grills. It comes in a trigger spray bottle, so you can treat just the area that needs it.
What it is for
Burning wood leaves a film of soot, smoke residue and ash dust on everything near the firebox. Left alone it builds up and darkens stone, tile and metal. Cleaning the hearth and surround regularly keeps the install looking the way it did on day one, and makes it easier to spot problems early, such as smoke staining above the door that points to a draft or gasket issue.
How to use it
Clean only when the stove and surfaces are completely cool. Spray, let it work briefly, then wipe with a clean cloth, following the directions and any surface warnings on the bottle. Test a small hidden area first on natural stone or painted finishes. This is a surface cleaner: it does not replace sweeping the chimney or an annual inspection.
