Overview

Everything needed to turn a masonry fireplace into an efficient heat source in one order: the Century Heating CW2900 wood insert, its 34" x 50" faceplate and a 35 ft stainless chimney liner kit. The CW2900 heats 500 to 2,100 sq ft with up to 75,000 BTU/h and comes with a 144 CFM blower. The full-length liner runs from the insert to the top of the chimney, which keeps the insert removable for sweeping and service. Measure from the insert's flue outlet to the top of your chimney before ordering; if the run is 25 ft or less, the 25 ft bundle costs less. The minimum fireplace opening is 28 7/8" wide x 23 3/8" high x 15 3/4" deep. An optional 5" fresh air intake kit (AC01298) fits the CW2900.

Ships via LTL (Less Than Truckload) freight – carriers include XPO Logistics, Estes Express, ABF Freight, Old Dominion, and FedEx Freight. Transit time is typically 3–10 business days from ship date. The carrier will call to schedule a delivery appointment.

Remote addresses. Some rural or hard-to-access addresses carry a carrier freight surcharge. If yours does, we'll email you the exact amount for approval before your order is processed — or you can cancel for a full refund.

Curbside delivery only. The driver will lower your order to the curb or end of your driveway via liftgate. This does not include bringing the item inside, carrying up stairs, or crossing uneven terrain.

Inspect before signing. Before signing the Bill of Lading (BOL), check for any visible packaging damage. Write "DAMAGED" or "Subject to inspection" on the BOL if anything looks off.

Returns. Unused, uninstalled units in original packaging can be returned within 30 days. Appliance returns are subject to a $300 return freight charge plus a 15% restocking fee. Units that have been fired or installed cannot be returned. Accessories and parts carry a 15% restocking fee.

Frequently asked questions

Will the CW2900 fit my fireplace?

The CW2900 is for masonry fireplaces only; the manual forbids installing it in a factory-built (zero-clearance) fireplace, and it is not approved for mobile homes. The minimum masonry opening is 28 7/8" wide, 23 3/8" high and 15 3/4" deep. Add at least 4" of width if you plan to connect a fresh air intake kit.

How much space does the CW2900 heat?

It is rated for 500 to 2,100 sq ft with up to 75,000 BTU/h and burn times up to 8 hours, and the included blower (up to 144 CFM) pushes heat out of the fireplace into the room.

CW2900 or CW2800: which Century insert should I get?

Start with your fireplace. The CW2900 needs an opening at least 15 3/4" deep and 23 3/8" high, and gives you the bigger firebox (2.4 cu ft, 20" logs, up to 8 hours). The CW2800 fits shallower openings down to 12 3/4" deep and 21 1/2" high, with a 1.86 cu ft firebox, 18" logs and up to 7 hours. If your fireplace fits the CW2900, it is the better choice for longer burns and bigger spaces. For very small openings, look at the Century CW2100.

Does the CW2900 need a chimney liner?

Yes. It vents through a full-length 6" stainless steel liner listed to UL 1777, run from the insert to the top of the chimney, and the chimney must be at least 12 ft tall. Our CW2900 bundles include the faceplate and a 25 ft or 35 ft liner kit; measure from the insert outlet to the top of your chimney to pick the length.

Which CW2900 liner kit bundle do I need, 25 ft or 35 ft?

Measure from the floor of the fireplace to the top of the chimney. If the run is 25 ft or less, the CW2900 + faceplate + 25 ft liner kit bundle covers it; up to 35 ft, choose the 35 ft bundle. Email info@stovesource.com or text 1-888-866-8206 if you are between sizes.

What floor protection does the CW2900 need?

In the USA you need non-combustible floor protection extending at least 16" in front of the door opening and 8" past each side of the door. Your existing hearth extension counts toward the 16". That figure assumes the masonry hearth is raised at least 5" above the floor in front of it. If the hearth is 5" high or less, the floor protection in front of the insert must have an R-value of at least 1.00 and extend 23" in front of the unit.
