Delivery Guide

Your stove is a heavy freight item, so delivery works differently than a normal package. This guide covers everything you need for a smooth delivery day. It takes two minutes to read and saves real headaches.

HOW YOUR STOVE SHIPS

Stoves and inserts are palletized freight, typically 200–500+ pounds. They travel by LTL (Less Than Truckload) freight on a tractor-trailer and are delivered curbside. Freight tracking updates less often than parcel tracking — that's normal.

Some rural or hard-to-access addresses carry a freight surcharge from the carrier. If yours does, we'll email you the exact amount for approval before your order is processed — or you can cancel for a full refund.

THE CARRIER WILL CALL YOU TO SCHEDULE

Once your stove reaches the local freight terminal, the carrier calls to book a delivery appointment — usually a 4-hour window, Monday to Friday, during business hours.

  • Don't screen your calls until your stove is delivered.
  • Make sure the phone number on your order is one you'll answer during the day.
  • You need to be home during the window to receive and sign.

If the carrier can't reach you, or you miss the appointment, any storage or redelivery fees the freight company charges are your responsibility.

CURBSIDE DELIVERY — WHAT TO EXPECT

The driver arrives in a liftgate truck and lowers your crated stove to the curb, the end of your driveway, or the nearest point a tractor-trailer can reach.

Curbside delivery does not include:

  • Bringing the stove inside your home, garage, or any structure
  • Moving it up stairs or across uneven ground
  • Unpacking, assembly, or installation

Moving the stove from the curb to its final spot is up to you.

HAVE THIS READY ON DELIVERY DAY

  • A heavy-duty appliance dolly (a pallet jack helps on flat, paved driveways)
  • At least one additional person — two or three is better for a full-size stove
  • A clear path from the curb to where the stove is going

Don't count on the driver to help move it.

INSPECT BEFORE YOU SIGN — THIS PROTECTS YOU

Before signing the Bill of Lading (BOL), check the crate for crushed corners, punctures, forklift damage, water damage, or torn wrapping.

  • If you see damage: write "DAMAGED" on the BOL before signing, then photograph it.
  • If you can't fully inspect the contents: write "Subject to inspection" on the BOL. This preserves your right to file a claim if you find damage after the driver leaves.

Once you sign a clean BOL, the carrier's liability for shipping damage ends. Open and inspect your stove within 48 hours of delivery, and contact us within 5 business days if anything is wrong.

Don't refuse delivery unless the stove is visibly destroyed. Accepting with a damage notation is easier to resolve than a refusal.

KEEP YOUR PACKAGING

Keep all packaging and the original pallet until your stove is installed and confirmed working. If you ever need to return it, it must go back crated on its original pallet.

INSTALLATION

We recommend a qualified professional installer and checking your local permit and inspection requirements. Proper installation keeps your warranty valid and keeps you safe. Follow the clearance specifications in your owner's manual — don't estimate placement.

MANUFACTURER REBATES

Many stoves qualify for manufacturer rebates, claimed directly with your proof of purchase:

  • Drolet — drolet.ca
  • Englander — englander-stoves.com
