Overview
Approved SBI telescopic heat shield for 6" black single-wall stove pipe, adjustable from 14" to 22" so it matches a telescopic pipe section without cutting. Mounts to the pipe on non-combustible spacers, holding a 1" air gap.
Why it matters: bare single-wall connector pipe requires 18" clearance to combustibles. Adding a proper heat shield cuts that in half, to 9". With SBI's own certified shielding the pipe may sit as close as 6", the same clearance a certified double-wall connector is allowed.
Shielding only works where it is installed, so plan a shield for each section of the run that sits close to a combustible surface.
Clearance reduction applies to the pipe. Your stove's own minimum clearances still apply in full and are never reduced by shielding the pipe. Where the two differ, use the larger. Single-wall pipe must not pass through a wall or ceiling, must not be used outdoors and is not permitted in mobile homes. Always confirm the connector pipe type and clearances specified in your stove's installation manual.
